Early Access Review
Horribly stability, crashed in the first two games I played. Balance is lacking spear character is way too strong. Combat is clunky because you can't combo abilities into attacks or vice versa. Matchmaking seems okay if you enable the "thorough" matchmaking setting. Feels worse than For Honor to fight anymore than one person at a time (try fighting 4 or more at once). The immortal mechanic feels bad cause it's one use per game. The dash system sucks (not sure if there are invincibility frames) because it has a cooldown of 6 seconds, your only evasive option to avoid damage is on a cooldown and you only get one. Why not just have a stamina system for dashing? Also most characters have a restricted dash that can only go in certain directions. I wanna like it and I may revise my opinion of the game if future changes are looking good.

THE RETURN.

I have come back to the game after roughly 3 months only to find nothing really changed. Yeah they made some minor changes and by "minor changes" I mean they added new characters before they even had the game in a good balanced state, rookie mistake. Now the rush to see how crazy the devs can make characters before inevitable power creep sets in, but don't worry the game wasn't balanced to begin with so nothing lost, nothing gained. The ONE good thing the devs did was nerf Spike albeit a tad too much, but a forgivable adjustment for the first balance patch to test the waters. Then I find out that Darkgale was buffed for some reason even though he was arguably strong if not broken already and I think they even buffed Warhammer which is now currently the most broken character in the game hands down. More shop changes to squeeze the last bit of coin out of the game before it gets abandoned before the year ends. The occasional quality of life fix for characters or menus, bug fixes, and server maintenance is the only constant for the game. Overall game still sucks (play with your friends) and has steady player decline.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ what a bad game with potential. The devs don't even know what their priorities should be, they focus on the look of the game and the "aspects" others games have before considering gameplay or bug fixes. Yes let's add a battle pass even though there isn't much content in the game to warrant one. Oh yes lets focus on making the game look like an enjoyable experience even though it doesn't play like one. The matchmaking seems none existent which is concerning considering there is a "competitive mode" where one would expect fair matches would be. The balance of the game hasn't seemed to change since last I played, Juno still broken. They add 4 new characters and not a single one is a goalie. The same bug that has existed since launch where character progression doesn't update until you close the game and open it again. Don't even get me started on the people who play this game, I swear the devs have a grudge against me the way I get useless teammates who sit there at level 2 while i'm level 6 and we lose the game because someone was either AFK, left because they didn't get the role they wanted, or left because we got scored on one time and I guess the rest of the match isn't worth it anymore. I want to like this game I really do, but every time I play it I remember why I stopped immediately after I finish the first game.

I like it but I did lose about 5 hours of progress in terms of levels. On a different note the small details in this game as well as the single player being more than just the absence of friends is really nice.

I just gonna come right out and say it. This game is decent on it's own, but it is a lousy sequel to a game. The number of bugs and bad game design decisions in this game is unacceptable when you realize they have succeeded to avoid these problems once before Ex: Dying Light. How can you think removing features from a game for the sequel is a good direction to go in?

What can I say about this game? It's hard to start, but let's start with the concept. A PvE/PvP extraction shooter is what this game is and right off the bat we have a question, "what kinda PvE we talking?" the kind that is irrelevant and only takes away from the PvP experience. You see when having PvE in a PvP game one must consider how the PvE aspects will affect the game and in this case the AI creatures have no place in the game outside of filling the map with more things and some of the crafting materials you need from them. They add NOTHING to the PvP side of the game and there is no reason to fight them unless you need a mission completed or materials collected.
Now let's talk about the PvP shall we? The game seems to want a more hardcore experience with limited HUD information (no damage numbers, no health bars, no pinging, very weak item/interactable outlines) and of course the staple of this genre, risking all you have on you every time you play. This game has a tier system for equipment in this game, low tier weapons are less powerful and high tier weapons are more powerful (armor is the same). This is perfectly fine, but with the lack of information the game gives you when fighting it becomes hard to know just how risky an all out fight can be. Think about Apex Legends, in that game your shield tier can be known by enemies who shoot you giving a clear indicator of how good your equipment is and thus how risky it will be you fight you head on, but The Cycle doesn't give you this information and there isn't an equipment tier restriction when playing on low level maps. This leaves you with no indications for how strong your opponent is besides the sound of their weapon's gunshots. This brings me to my next point.
In any extraction shooter the goal is to get to a specific point on the map that allows you to get on a ship and leave with the items you found during your expedition. Very simple and straight forward I know right? Well what if everyone knows where the extraction points are and let's say that once entering the extraction ship you are still vulnerable to attacks from others (even teammates). Can you guess how this may cause problems? Well the common strategy when playing boils down to: camp extraction point. kill people trying to extract. loot them and hijack their extraction ship. Not to mention the people that exhibit this behavior typically have better gear than you when they attack. As any new player might expect, this isn't very fun to experience. If the extraction ship prevented any damage from outside sources and stopped the use of weapons once inside there wouldn't be a problem.
Lastly there is the bugs to discuss, I have had some experiences already with various bugs/problems in this game. The first bug I experienced was when I just started the tutorial and once I stepped out of the drop pod I immediately fell through the ground and kept falling for several seconds before popping back onto the map. The second bug I witnessed was actually when I played with a friend. My friend and I had hopped into the extraction ship right as a storm hit and I extracted with my equipment just fine my friend however, did not get extracted as per his testimony he explained he simply slipped out of the ship when it took off and promptly died form the storm's red lighting striking him. Another bug or more accurately problem I experienced was the various un-climbable walls and rock formations that exist despite the several other walls and rock formations that can be climbed just fine. A personal bug I have experienced is one where a portion of the ammo I take with me when I drop is removed once I land leaving me with no reserve ammo for my secondary and only one extra mag for my primary. Lastly the ever so irritating world and prop collisions that prevent you from walking through an area without having to go around or spam jump until you make it through.
I have already taken the survey they ask you about in game and so I won't go into detail on what can improve the game, but feel free to comment some changes of your own for the game.

Wanna like it, but the character balance is questionable at best and terrible at worst. There are many bugs in the game that, while expected, are really annoying or game breaking. I know, I know, it's a new game and will have bugs in it that's a given, but the bugs that exist are ones that shouldn't exist to begin with or need to be fix ASAP. ex: Batman's grapple hook can instantly kill him if an opponent or ally dodges when you grapple towards them.

What can I say it's really only fun if you spend a lot of real world money on it or you are a degenerate of some kind. On the off chance that you have friends to play this game with you might be able to have some enjoyment, but other than that good luck because gta 5 is not the place to go to find friends.
