if anyone is looking for the story order with Ys games released in NA? it is----

1. Ys 1-2
2. Ys Celceta
3. Ys Oath in Felghana
4. Ys 8
5. Ys Ark of Napishtim
6. Ys Seven
7. Ys 9 Monstrum Nox

Celceta: A great port of the Vita game. One of the modern Ys games, however unlike the other modern ones where you have full control, Celceta pushes your attacks towards enemies even when you have lock on off. So you have to plan your attacks more. Story revolves around Adol barely escaping the forest alive and losing his memory in the process after being badly hurt.

Each character has their moveset but they all fall under three play styles. attack, pierce, and break. depending on your formation, it will give you one of two party buffs. Dogi is sadly not in this one and instead we get a bootleg Dogi. Duren is one of Adol's companions from Ys 1-2. He is the laughing stock of the party and everyone makes fun of him. Thanks to various dialogue options, you can too! WONDERFUL!

The dialogue choices are completely meaningless and often don't even change the conversations. Except the funny ones. Those give slight alterations but then quickly go back to the same thing. The choices felt rushed and pointless.

Exploration is encouraged as there is items and equipment that are optional but extremely help your adventure along the way. You WONT need to really worry about keeping your entire squad balanced in levels as there is only one time they partially get separated, one by one, at the very end of the game. However if you just control Adol during that segment, it really doesn't matter what the other levels are for the characters you don't like.

Music-7.5/10 (still really good music though)
Combat-6.5/10 (fun but auto push at enemies can get you hurt or killed if you aren't careful)
Characters-8/10 (very good but not as good as other Ys games, especially with missing Dogi)
Plot-5/10- (this one is more about exploring than story. It has one, but not the strongest of the Ys games)

Overall rating---7/10. Well worth a single playthrough at least. Especially if you want all the lore of the Ys games and to experience each one. Could be better but definitely not a bad game by any means.

Make sure you kick Duren's ass (side quest in Karna's village) and insult him at every turn. He needs to know his place. Off screen. Dogi cannot be replaced by this fool.

The most accessable and streamlined "souls-like" game around. Whether you are new or veteran to playing these type of 'brutual/learn from death', both can find enjoyment and challenge.

*fast and better combo/skill system (speed depending on weapon)
*optional AI companion that can accompany you everywhere (can be turned off if you want to go solo)
*Play as any class you unlock, at any time. No more choosing between one.
*skills can be mastered and then used for any class
*3 different types of dodges---slow roll for heavies, fast roll for normal, magic dash for fast.
*magic dash covers farther than rolls, and can be used in succession more quickly than any roll
*doesn't take long to grind levels
*upgrading weapons and armor is easy if you dont ignore the more challenging enemies
*no forced online. Play the entire game single player if you desire, or co-op with friends.
*no troll messages from online players that send you to your grave

Now onto story.
Basically you are a Revenant, aka, a vampire. the world went to shiz when monsters attacked, and they experimented on people to revive the dead to become super soldiers---unstoppable soldiers that can keep coming back to life, as long as their heart doesn't get destroyed when they die. You join up with a colorful group of lovable chars that help you try to stop this disaster from getting worse. Not a single bad protagonist in this game. Everyone is lovable in their own way. Each with a well flushed out past that can be told through cutscenes, conversations, and memories.

That's all I want to give out for story. You will not be disappointed with this game. Easily one of my favorite Bandai Namco games, right up with God Eater and Tales of.

---Side note. I played this game at Max graphics, and have had no problems with the gameplay. Solid 60 frames 99% of the time. The only times I found slight frame drops was when you teleport to base. I played both the demo for 12 hours, and this game so far for 14. No hiccups. Try the demo out! See for yourself.

Best visual novel I ever played. Even if you don't play eroges, just don't install the patch. It's worth it regardless. Light hearted story with a good amount of comedy. Chars are all well done, even if some tropes happen. However, I will say the sexual content of the romance route choices feel very natural, and not forced. Sorry for being vague, but visual novels are best experienced for yourself. Hopefully this vague description is enough to make you consider it. Very good VN,

Still to this day holds up as the best Alien game. The graphics may be dated, but the gameplay sure isn't. The AI is very good and keeps you on your toes, and even makes me nervous many times when playing as the Marine. the in game movies are cheesy, but it adds to the charm. Let's show Ripley how the Marines handle things! Ho-rah!

Plays great, and is much better than God Eater 1/Resurrection. Story takes place 3 years after the end of Resurrection. This game builds pretty well on the lore of the characters, even the side ones. If you liked Resurrection, you will love this. If you are a Switch user, highly recommend playing these games first (or at least watching the cutscenes) so you get that full story.

I have positives and negatives about this port. I'm sure people want to see the negatives first, so I'll go over that.

*The game can have bad fps in certain areas, but this can be increased by messing with the settings, without losing all the quality.
-However, even increased, it can sometimes drop, but it becomes playable. If you are a person that has to have a steady 60 fps and never drop, you should avoid it. However, if you can deal with a few drops but overall plays fine, then give it a chance.

*Besides the commander and captain Ashashi, the other two guys feel second rate compared to the rest of the girls. I'm for girl power, really I am, but I prefer when both genders are awesome. Also doesn't help that one of those two other guys are hardly likable.

Positives---
*Interesting story
*Nice comboing system
*Multiple endings
*Romance options
*Detective like game-play during interrogations
*One of Iffy's better PC ports (FFF Advent Dark Force is literally unplayable on PC, so at least this one is playable)

Overall: I still do recommend this game if you don't have a ps4 to play it on. It should work fine if you mess with the settings. (feel free to comment on this thread if you want to know the settings I used)

Interesting visuals, nice class systems, and decent story. The free clothes are even nice, so you don't feel the need to deal out cash for it. It's a nice game.

This game runs really well for those concerned about bugs and the like. Nihon Falcom does it again! Another amazing Jrpg with very gripping story. It's an action Jrpg that story basically revolves around high school students that for one reason or another get tangeled up in these pocket dimesnions that appear randomly around the world. These dimensions bring monsters into our world, and so they must go into these dimensional gates and kill the gatekeeper (boss) to close these portals. Some secret government has been created in response to combat these gates. People gifted or granted special powers are usually called to join this secret task force. This story revolves around that task force, the gates, and how the group of students get involved in their own ways with them. The game has a relationship system, and multiple endings--offering very high replayability. There is also this Mystery character 'White Shroud' which has perfected what old school rpgs used to do. Is it a guy? Is it a girl? What's his/her story? Who are they involved with? It's so easy to ask these questions, and they very wittingly had the character use a voice changer, so that it couldn't be determined by voice alone which gender it was. Combine the mystery of this character, and the fact at how awesome range of skills it commands, White Shroud is one of, if not, the coolest character to play as in the whole game. My only issue is lack of option for English voices. So, for those hoping to use that feature, it sadly isn't in this game, unlike most Nihon Falcom games, which usually do offer them. The voices fit the characters really well though, so I was able to overlook this. Highly recommend this game! 9/10.
