Despite the problems of getting this game going, once you do, it's amazing. People are review-bombing it, but they should be pushing it forwards to get Capcom to do something, remind them that people do genuinely still love and adore this game, that we still play it. I haven't played this since I was a kid, and playing it again, I plan to beat it, and keep playing it. It's an amazing masterpiece of gaming, and I haven't had this much fun in a long time with most modern games.
My only real critique is that it falls off in some of the later game with how cool and unique the boss-fights are, starting right at playing Ex-Nevec with the Guardian Akrids. But that doesn't mean everything starting from there and after is trash. My favorite mission is the Vagabundos, they're hilarious and badass.

Please Capcom, fix the game, people have fixed it for you. Just bring Lost Planet 2 back.

It's pretty darn fun, one of the best MMOs of recent times! Not sure how it's so addicting, but it's not like the korean/anime MMos with hyper-paced combat, instead it just focuses on all the fun things, the simple things, and it's not overkill on animations or armors/weapons, also... HELMETS EXIST!
Very nice to play, nicely paced

Very fun game, hoping that it gets updated soon!
Pros-
simple yet has just about everything you could want
fun combat, kinda souls-ish in comparison to style
awesome quest-making and world-building, tons of customization potential
No DLC required to simply play

Cons-
you must buy DLC to make good worlds of your own
very little personal character customization
creators still have bugs to fix

Suggestions to creators-
BUG FIXES
more customization with your own character you play as for cosmetic-wise
invisible walls you can make in world creator
more castles and castle options in world creator!!!
ranged enemies (bows/crossbows)
player-made models for items, placeables, armors, weapons (either workshop mods or suggested to be added ones like TF2 does)
Custom music and sounds

Personal desires-
More medieval stuff in general. more armors and weapons for NPCs you make, (footsoldier armors and spears would be nice)

Early Access Review
2 Years ago, on November 18th, 2020, I did a review of this game. I can post a link to the picture of that exact review here-
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/601599135786860558/981080375843504159/Steam_Review_Ancient_Warfare_Nov_18_2020.PNG

I said that 2 years from that day, this game wouldn't change much from where it was. Some of the community still continued to friend my account and essentially harass me into trying to change this review, likely because it got so popular (and for good reason) due to how much it exposed. But, people change, and so did this game. I promised that if I was wrong, I'd change this review.
I stand corrected to a small degree, now. There is still no modding to this game, it is still slow in development, but, the ideas that you have, which the creator blatantly and explicitly said that he would ignore, are now finally accepted. He decided to look at his mistakes and realize that he needed to change them. He finally has started to implement things that not just his favorites in the community like, but the actual vaster community that was screaming out to voice their opinions. The vast majority that has been ignored for so long finally, at long last, has a voice that has been heard. I promised to change my review starting at when he'd implement custom armors and weapons like we'd been asking for 2 years ago, and at long last he has.

Ladies and gentlemen, I uphold my promise, and here it is. My changed review. I can finally recommend this game.

a game that is heavily RP based on its servers, fun in gameplay that allows awesome builds, allows for a lot of action, true free action, and doing almost anything, it's the very closest you'll get to DND in a game! the developers are still updating to this very day, and its servers have some awesome steps taken to make them even better. however, server-problems are their own, and people have their own problems, the strong-point of this game is definetly the multiplayer, though the singleplayer is still fun to give a try!
I give it a 9.2/10, definetly something completely different

Ups-
Fun, vast gameplay with classes and abilities
Awesome RP potential
True freedom of action on MultiPlayer (differing on the servers)
Heavy customization depending on servers and modules
Good modding community!
Decent Single-player

Downs-
People can be asshats, but that's not on the game
Servers all have their downsides, but that's on them
Weak(er) DLCs that can let down at times

Awesome game tho, love it and all the potential it has!

This is a fun open-world game that introduced a challenge, and many amazing systems, like how they handled magic, or how they replaced levels all together with skills instead, it's the game everyone's wanted where you're nobody special and earn your way up in the world. and the new DLC is something out of this world! They added a huge amount of new content for us with it, and it doesn't let down! there are some things i'd add to the game, but mostly cosmetical purposes or for ease-of-use.
Things i'd add:
More armor variation. they have a lot, but other than the ocassional few off-hands, it's the choice of clothes and robes, or plate armor. i'd like to see scaled armor, chainmail, lamellar, leather, just different unique types of things that would add new 'mediums'.
More basic classes. They have a handful of unique classes in this game, which are really cool! but at the same time, they could do with more basic ones like a warrior, or a knight, crusader, etc.
Some expensive way to skip a long trip. Let's say you run all the way through a dungeon, got the time, do another, and you're loaded down to the brim with goodies in your bag... in fact you had to dip on some just so you could half-jog for 20 minutes back to the town in the map... I would add a one-time use crystal or scroll or something that's expensive, maybe make a cheaper version that has a chance to make you lose a few random items in your pockets or backpack, etc.
A better living world. I'd wanna see skirmishes, guard patrols, villagers, and caravans wandering about the roads every so often, the world feels alive but very hostile. it could really use some brightening up with a few friendly NPCs! along with that, maybe more off-hand things like adding detail, such as a road that leads through a collapsed castle, so you can either go around a side-road or climb over the rubble, or just the occasional details off to the side such as a small farm that has living people in it that could be raided by bandits or beasts later, or just ruins, something to bring a bit more life to the grand world!
A big one, a new DLC featuring a war. People love battles. people love sieges more. In the Blue Chamber collective (spoilers) the first quest features high tensions and an upcoming war against the Heroic Kingdom of Levant, i'd like to see a DLC which would add more side-quests, armors, etc. but more importantly a new storyline where it features a war between factions.
Also, more character customization. seriously, half the choices are wrinkly old men and women. i want some handome, some pretty, some stern, some middle-aged faces of all sorts. same with hair-styles, we need a lot more hair styles...

Now, onto pros and cons.
Pros-
This game is EXTREMELY REPLAYABLE, i've been told with things like Dark Souls or other games that you can be a new class or follow a different faction next time, whereas this game wants to make you replay it and do it all over again. and with the 'legacy' system, you get more rewards from your past character who left things in legacy chests before you! meaning that Great Grandpapi Jim left behind some plate armor that now YOU get to use! and some of them will upgrade in those chests for that next playthrough...
The best magic system i've ever seen. seriously, the magic is really ingenuitive and unique like something i've never seen before. You'd literally have to see or try it to know what i mean.
lots of unique creations with classes
NO levels! instead it's all skills and breakthroughs through classes that make you stronger but you have to earn them by finding the trainers and paying hefty prices
multiple ways to solve quests, deadlines, and consequences.
immense challenging but fun beasts
Awesome to die for co-op

Cons-
in co-op, and possibly singleplayer, reaching end-game means reaching your peak. you are that hero now, and the game does make you feel like it by giving you god-like weapons and armor. this might be a good thing for you, but personally I like the challenge, and when you can square-up with a giant or a squad of heavily armored bandits and clap their cheeks like you do this every other day, it gets a bit more repetitive. luckily, you can solve this with mods!
Downside is, there's few mods. There are a good portion of needed mods to add a couple more classes or make things more challenging, overhaul the combat and difficulty, etc. however the modding community other than that is very miniscule, and if you want say, new armor or more variations in customization of your character, you're out of luck.

The game's bosses are far easier than those of the third game that i played first, however the world and what you're supposed to do is quite confusing, and you'll be looking up guides because it doesn't hand-hold you through any of it, and yet I love that because it brings back so many good memories.
The game's environment and natural enemies will be your worst nightmare and it will force you to become better, get equipped better, and problem-solve. All while offering so many various unique paths and ways to complete it, so many hidden little side-entrances and secrets, little things that will be introduced on the side, and show you unique things that can be done. it's such a vast world and yet amazingly done. by far a recommended game!

Early Access Review
despite being in early access, with the many many bugs that i've encountered, i can only keep praising this game. it's so well built, and it's got only more than warband, and improved upon everything that made Warband great. The gameplay is much more polished and refined, and the game's done amazingly despite the many bugs. it could use more armors, sure. it also needs armors added to shops in places like Vlandia, however everything else about this is just perfect and spot-on. I can't recommend it enough.

I beat the first chapter and this game actually is pretty good. albeit it could do with some graphic improvement on the second chapter from what i've seen so far, the walls are pretty basic, but the rest of it has its own unique style, other than that, it's looking really good and pretty damn cool with its unique style and layout.
it's like a classic dungeon-crawler layout for the first chapter level, and then the second one is like an unlockable section for each part of the city, which mind you, is MASSIVE.
the gameplay starts off a bit slow, and gives you your baby-steps quickly, but immediately after it thrusts you into action where you're pumping fist to face into multitudes of enemies, and depending on the difficulty, with easy making you feel like the DOOMSLAYER going around and pumping serious iron into everything around you, and 'hard' mode (which i'm playing on, otherwise called 'Elderborn') is where you get a lot more into the game, and if you're a gamer who likes a challenge, i recommend this mode. it places enemies in tactical positions which you get to assault however you want, usually i'm going head-first into it and cutting a bloody swathe through my path. the game is all about melee and pumping iron power through everything that comes your way, it's pretty fast pace and slows down only narratively when it needs to, and does a great job with level layouts, letting you know where everything is pretty easily mapped out in your head while also managing to make it actually feel like a catacombs of sorts where you feel like you could get lost.
the enemies have a good variety and the level design is good, but sometimes the enemies just feel so cheap when they put them in certain places. example being in the second chapter when you're in the slums and there's a wooden makeshift tower with a bandit on top of it spam-throwing fireballs at you, making the battlefield a flaming mess, and the only way to reach him is to run to the top of a staircase and jump across while other bandits assault you on foot with clubs and blades, and if you manage to get up there then every time he manages to poke you with a staff just fast enough before you swing to knock you away 5 feet.... off the tower and into a chasm behind him. because you jump onto the back of this tower and he's int he front, always making it so you always go straight down that pit. which makes it a shame there's no throwables or anything, even if they were limited or you could only carry so many this would make it TREMENDOUSLY better to deal with that sort of situation.
So all-in-all here's my final conclusion-

pros-
You put the 'Fist' in 'Face'
You got some serious weapon variety and they actually do help in certain situations and do better against certain enemies
Boss fights (so far as i can tell i've only fought the first one) are NOT a let-down
Forces you to learn to get better, and not in a bad way
High-paced action but doesn't go too fast
Feels a lot like DOOM and Dark Souls had a baby...
You're literally Conan the Barbarian
You can play as male or female, and they change all the voices and cutscenes for it, that's cool
serious weapon variety
Good layout for levels, and pretty decent graphics
Awesome music

Cons-
Music could be playing a bit more, seriously, I wanna hear that metal blasting when i'm about to enter combat every time, and then it just turns it off right immediately after combat is over. Personally I don't like that, and i'd like if it slowly dimmed out after.
Enemy layout can be a pain in the ass
No throwables or ranged at all, which is good and bad, but could at least have limited javelins or something
2nd chapter the walls around the city look like complete ass...
