Wow, so Its taken me 13 years and a steam sale but I finally played through Mass Effect. The play through itself took me around 15 hours to complete, However I skipped most of the side content ( This wasn't purposeful, the main story just really pulled me in and when someone was asking me to do some small and seemingly redundant task i passed in hopes of pushing the story along )

As for the story itself, I was hooked from the start, There are a couple twists and turns but you end up achieving what you set out to do however there are a couple more complications that ill let you find out for yourself. The Characters are amazing, There were multiple times i was grinning when characters pulled off an impressive feet or they helped me out of a tight combat situation, There were also times I really felt for my fellow crew mates as things happened that id rather not say in this review for spoilers sake.

I did have a couple gripes with the game, however this all comes down to the age of the game. While the game looks nice enough for something that came out in 2007, it of course looks rather dated and the pop in pulled me out of the world a couple times when characters faces failed to render in important cutscenes. The combat while good felt a little bit stale towards the last 2 hours of the game ( I played a soldier on veteran difficulty ). One thing that nearly made me not finish the game was the lack of auto save at some points in the game. I had gotten to a specific point, died and it took me around 20 mins to get back, this happened several points throughout my play through however i guess that's my fault for not manually saving enough (keep pressing f6 whenever the game lets you! lol )

All in all, i'd highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a new ( or not so new ) RPG to play through. As i said it has a couple issues however they can be easily explained but the fact that this game is 13 years old now ( Probably older than you ;D) Cant wait to start Mass Effect 2, from the praise i've heard about it, i'm sure i'm going to love it just as much as i do this game.
