As long as you don't work for "game journalist" outlets and you liked the original game, this can be considered a straight upgrade and a must buy. The game is mean and will let you know but there's a good amount of options for tuning difficulty to your liking. Nightdive knocked it out of the park with this one and the wait was well worth it.

One thing this remake is unfortunately lacking on is the soundtrack. It does have one but apart from about 2 tracks during game play, and the hacking track most of it is rather unremarkable. The combat track list seems to be very limited to you end up listening the the same 2 to 3 different tracks over and over. The original game soundtrack had some really strange tracks but most of it was very memorable, the industrial, NiN-esque soundtrack was and still is very distinctive of System shock. Would love to see an update to it or, if Nightdive is planning to work on it, please don't skimp out on SS2 soundtrack.

Mods help, fix and enhance game, not infrige on them.
