A fun, chill, and addictive factory building game. The progression is very satisfying and game incentivises exploration of its world, rather than just sitting at base.

Beware though, it is very easy to throw out hygiene and construct huge mounds of spaghetti.

Better than the base game stories, but that doesn't mean it's good. Not a lot of content, and definitely not enough to justify the asking price.

As for the new map, I fell through the map on 2 occasions, somehow.
In a way, I suppose it is a typical Bethesda product.

I expected a dumpster fire, but all I got was trash. :(

In all seriousness, it's surprisingly mediocre. If you just want a game to play without thinking about it, Starfield is fine. You can easily pass the time, but don't expect anything more.

If you are going to play Starfield, don't think too much about any one aspect of a quest, the world, etc.! It just falls apart, ruining any fun you were having.

A truly lovely game with great attention to detail. Nothing can be perfect, but this is close!
From the writing to aesthetics and setting, it is all done masterfully.

On the latter, I don't think I've felt this immersed in a video game world in years, only to do so in a historical point-and-click adventure with no voice-acting and a very stylised aesthetic. Obsidian Entertainment have outdone themselves!

If I had to pick one potentially negative aspect:
It may be difficult for some people to enjoy because you have to read a lot and have to juggle with different fonts. They really do add to the experience so I wouldn't want to disable them via the accessibility menu, but it was challenging at times - and especially in the beginning - to read Fraktur.

Originally played it when it came out all those years ago and I'm glad to say that it still holds up. Granted, the graphics look dated, especially the character avatars, but if you can stomach that, you will have a great time.

I can imagine 2 negative for new players though. First of all, you need a Uplay account. Secondly, a good part of the mission content (world events) is time-sensitive. They rotate every few weeks, so you are not able to rush through the content if you wanted to, and they have a canonical order that you are likely not gonna get. That is real shame.

That said, the gameplay is great and the music is slamming, so go ahead and destroy your enemies with Stealth Bombers already!!!

The game is in an unfinished state with core features such as the map and asset editor completely missing at release, and even now -5 months later- being in a broken and unstable state, not to speak of other severely lacking aspects of the game such as the whole economy system.

Maybe it gets good in the future but as it stands right now, give this game a wide berth!

An excellent addition to Cyberpunk and IMO one of the best gaming things in 2023, despite the stiff competition. The story is fantastic and the world densely filled with interesting stuff to do.

I especially like that the writers managed to give roleplaying players a good amount of natural "waiting time" that can be used for the engaging side biz without V seeming like the most irresponsible gonk ever.

Was truly a pleasure to play and then 100% it. Can only recommend!

CK3 is a phenomenal game! The mixture of grand strategy and rpg/social drama felt very odd at first, but I grew to love it. It is my favourite PDX-developed game for sure.

Any one aspect of CK3 is fairly simple, but they are all interwoven to create a complex system that feels very rewarding to engage with. That said, my first steps were quite dreadful, as i constantly had to read tooltips, wikis, and external tutorials, though I got a grasp of the game much quicker than in Stellaris and EU4.

It is also much more chaotic and unstable, yet friendlier and more fun than other PDX games like the aforementioned EU4 and Stellaris. Speaking of CK3 as a strategy game, the overall difficulty is lower, there are usually many more ways to achieve a given goal, you can bounce back from even the most dramatic setbacks, and any runaway can be stopped dead in their tracks. Latter 2 aspects might well be a first for modern pdx games, and I love it

Then there is the rpg/social drama side of CK3. While I approached CK3 solely as a strategy game at first, it is a lot of fun to act as a character or play with a certain goal in mind, and keeps you returning to the game with ideas and motivation for runs.

With all above said, If you are not familiar with PDX games, a point of criticism would be their DLC policy. While some features may be available for free at a basic level, to truly savour these games you do need many of the DLCs. The flavour packs such as 'Northern Lords' and 'Fate of Iberia' can be ignored, but the expansion packs like 'Royal Court' feel mandatory, with those also being the most expensive of the bunch. I am fine with this policy as a method of funding these games, but some have nothing but disdain for it.

I have no idea how to close this review, so I'll just repeat my opening statement:
CK3 is a phenomenal game! The mixture of grand strategy and rpg/social drama felt very odd at first, but I grew to love it. It is my favourite PDX-developed game for sure.
