The trading card system in steam is effectively useless. Caring at all about steam trading cards, which is something I do, is a lot like buying pokemon cards without any desire to play the game associated with it, which is also something I do. It has become something of an addiction for me. So what happens when this addiction perpetuates? Well, in my case, I realized a cool little number on my profile increases when I craft a badge from having all the cards in a game. This number in turn gives me discounts on games I don't want, pointless increases in maximum number of friends, and bonus aesthetic options for my profile. However, there came a point, level 30 to be exact, when those bonus aesthetic options gave me more showcase slots than I knew what to do with. So what did I do with that showcase slot that I achieved at level 30? Well, let me tell you: this.
