First things first, just because you like the first Frostpunk game doesn't necessarily mean you'll like this one. The game mechanics and feel are very different. This game works more like a 4X and city builder than the city build survival game of the first one, and if that doesn't sound appealing to you don't buy it.

Having said that I really like the game, it scratches an itch that few others can, I like alot of the story building on from the previous game, the faction and politics system is vastly improved over the last one even if some of the flavour is a tiny bit more lacking and the feeling of building up a post-apocalyptic city-state, into an imperial (or less colonialist if you choose) state struggling for survival against the elements and internal division is second to none.

Areas where the game could improve a bit are: the game's performance, though generally good on my system, it does occasionally stutter and saves can take a bit longer than i'd want at time despite my relatively beefy SSD and the UI isn't always the best, some of the symbols used are not particularly intuitive and i've personally found selecting districts when they are adjecent (something you regularly need to make them efficient) can be difficult where I'll have to nudge my mouse and reclick a few times to select the district I want even though in my view it looks like my mouse is directly over the one I want.

Having said the above I am really enjoying the game and I can't wait to see what they have planned for any future entries or dlc.

My honest review of it is that it's just ok. It's fun if you want a Elder Scrolls/Fallout adventure, but in space, but it has a lot of repetitive content, and I'm not personally a fan of what felt to me like rather rubbish world building. On the other hand, it does do some stuff well, I spent a fair amount of time in the ship creator/editor which was fun and I like a couple of the companions, and some of the faction quests chains were fairly good. As well, some of the random encounters and side content were very very good and innovative, but this really just showed how lacklustre the rest of the content was. It was much less buggy than most Bethesda games, though I can recall a few times where I had to massively save, or use the console to progress through a quest because of bugs, 2 of those occasions being in the same quest, aside from that occasionally an NPC would float in the air or a fast travel point would be 2000 ft in the air, but those weren't that bad.

The game has a cool idea for handling NG+, the only problem being I don't have any immediate desire to go play it again right now. Maybe in a few months or when some expansions get released. Overall i'd say its worth the time if you don't have anything better to play, but if you have a choice between buying/playing this and something else i'd recommend having this lower on your list.

If people like what is essentially a text RPG with point and click elements I highly recommend. Great story, very funny and cool aesthetic

Its basically the first one but with minor improvments in most of the gameplay aspects and continues the briliant story.

This is probably my favourite game that i've ever played, it wasn't the longest or most complex, but it blended simplistic turn based strategy combat with an amazing story, a beuatiful aesthetic and a fantastic world. 10/10 would and have played again.
