I first stumbled upon the Ace Attorney games when I first got my Nintendo DS back in the day. I believe it was my first time ever playing a game that I didn't know at the time was a visual novel, which usually isn't for everyone. Luckily, I had an interest in reading books, so the gameplay didn't really bother me. Playing as a defense attorney also made me even more interested in the games, as I am a huge fan of mystery, investigating crime scenes, and whatnot. Unfortunately, I was not able to finish these games back in the day, so when the trilogy was set to be released on PC, I knew I had to get it.

I finally got around to finding the time to finish all 14 episodes and 100%-ing the collection in the course of a few years (because I tend to play multiple games at once), and what a ride it has been. This collection is definitely an all-around masterclass in the visual novel genre, complete with an unforgettable cast of characters as well as top-tier storytelling and writing. This is one of the games I will cherish for the rest of my life, and I am glad I played through it.

I never thought a visual novel where you play a defense attorney would bring a tear to my eye.

After all, a lawyer only cries once it's all over.
