Got given this for Christmas. It's not the most cannibalism I've done over Christmas but it was pretty close. Then I discovered you could skin people to make books... Best holiday ever, lovely little game!

2 years later: the DLCs have improved the game. The early blue point grind is much better with the DLCs and inclusion of bags to hold all your disgusting body parts makes a big difference. Plus now you can mangle souls as well as bodies!

This isn't a game for everyone, lets be up front about that. Lets just assume the sort of person who cares about how reflective and shiny water is in games has already clicked next in the discovery queue. If you loved the old Might and Magic games and Daggerfall this might be exactly what you're looking for. That this started as a phone game might make some people leery of it, but let me assure you there's more game in here than a lot of big name AAA titles have. And because they are everywhere now let me state this game does not have any pay to win mechanics or micro transactions. What you can buy are additional curated worlds - each of them an expansion in it's own right jam packed with enough content to make a AAA season pass slink away in shame.

What is it? Single character grid based RPG with turn based combat, has alchemy, enchanting, there is item durability but repairing is easy enough. The map lets you make your own needed notes, the quest log is basic but functional. There's puzzles, combat, dungeons and quests. Don't expect Obsidian amount of choices in those quests... but some of them you do get choices in how to resolve the story. It's pretty standard fantasy fare. It's just simple fun and that's all I needed it to be.

So the game is a lot of fun and pretty good value if you like these sort of games. But wait! There's more! After the main game and DLC you can explore the curated worlds in the workshop. The expansions by Zarista games and their amazing Catacomber, and while they do cost a minor amount ($3 for me) they are some of the best value you will find for the enormous amount of quests puzzles and monsters crammed in. They also tend to be a bit more complex and require a bit more thought and thorough play. If you play the main game and like it but think "I could go for more of this... but stronger", I recommend trying out one of the starting lower leveled worlds like Celtic Rift or Thor's Hammer.
