Absolutely fantastic game.

Let's just say that almost everything here is good.

But holy ♥♥♥♥ the level design. It's something I rarely take notice of, but when it's done to this level... Just wow.
I don't even want to think about how much time they must have spent on the clockwork mansion. Batshite insane.

This game is heckin' hard.

I still can't believe this game is real. Had I seen this on kickstarter today like I did all those years ago I would have never backed it. But younger me was more optimistic. And for once it paid off. How can a brand new studio, make one of the best RPGs in a decade?

The main story and side quests are on par with Witcher 3 in my opinion. And thankfully, most missions have nothing to do with combat. You spend more time helping people in various ways. And more often than not, you can approach missions in several ways.

The progression of your character is also fantastic. It might feel punishing at first, because you literally know nothing. You can't even read. And the combat is really unforgiving at the start. But it doesn't take long before you turn into a more competent guy that can take on most problems. Not only through combat, but through stealth, various illegal activities, hunting, maintaining gear, brewing potions, and of course your speech skill.

While the game definitely has it's rough edges, it's nothing that ruined the game for me. The combat works well in 1v1. But in larger fights it isn't very good nor satisfying. But like I said earlier, a big part of the game will have nothing to do with combat. Especially if you chose to take other routes to complete objectives. Imo the system is a bit too complex. And you will seldom get the chance to perform special moves, which you also have to remember how to even trigger. That being said, when you do pull them off and combine it with perfect parries, it can look and feel really good.

The save system isn't for everyone. I like the alchemy in this game so brewing save potions was not a problem for me. However I can see why people don't like it. If that's a problem, there are mods to fix this.

This is a hidden gem of a game that deserves a sequel (which has been hinted to be in the works) and hopefully they will take peoples complaints into consideration and improve upon this already solid foundation.
