If it feels like Chrono Trigger, plays like Chrono Trigger, has the character driven story that Octopath should have implemented instead of 8 Playable Characters that have 0 interaction with each other, end of chapters that will give you whiplash due to amazing unexpected events, unique skill and experience system, memorable soundtrack, and around 12-ish characters to customize your party of 4(+4).

What do I mean with the "party of 4(+4)"?
Is a unique feature in the game in which each character has a partner link with them, and during a fight you can swap on the go (without penalizing your turns), allowing you to have a full DPS party for those random encounters, but the tank/healer/support/debuffer on the rear line ready to jump and save the day.

I have played on normal difficulty for around 60hours and have yet to complete the game (I am going for 100% completion all said), there is minimal fluff in the game which is in itself mostly optional (what do you mean a Kebab cannot be a boss fight?), and there is usually no need to grind unless you are going for all the achievements.

You can customize your party leader and there are kinda 2 MCs to the story, even if every character is important, so the game doesn´t force you to carry with you any character you hate.

There are only 3 negative points I´ve seen that are worth mentioning, but they are still not enough to make me not enjoy the game, but I´d prefer if the devs fixed/improved some of these points:

- Most sidequests are extremely rushed and lack as much impact as they should had. Not gonna mention any specifics due to clear spoilers, and I doubt I am the only one with this opinion.
- Several menus become awful to navigate late-game when more skills/crystals/equipments are available. I am mostly referring to the Upgrade Crystal menu in the Anvil... but it made me lose almost all interest in the mechanic.
- Characters that just joined your party are under-"leveled" skill-wise and usually, by the time they join (some of them join quite late game) your team is already well stablished and balanced, and changing 1 or 2 characters could feel a bit underwhelming. Personally, I think the game should force you to use other characters for a bit longer than 1 or 2 battles on sidequests to ensure you understand the character mechanics properly.

TL;DR: Close to the best 2D JRPG that has been released in the past 10 years!
