There is this saying: "If you want to make god laugh tell him about your plans." And I think this is what this game is all about.
Somehow the game ends up encouraging you to overestimate your abilities and to bite off more than you can chew in the very limited time given to you to complete each level. As the result eventually you end up failing horribly. (It is actually possible to complete the game in multiple ways which you can choose depending on your arrogance as you progress through the game but you almost never succeed, because you are forced to act fast and in the hurry you almost always end up making SOME kind of a stupid mistake and failing.)
But that's not necessary a bad thing. That's what gives this game an infinite amount of replayability and the fun never runs out. It's difficult to learn and difficult to master. But even if you are a n00b the amount of fun you get makes up for that.
If you are interested in this game then I recommend to start with Spelunky 1 (the "HD" version from 2013). If you start with Spelunky 2 instead then you will miss some of the story and also it will be more difficult to start playing than it actually needs to be. So start with Spelunky 1 if you didn't play it yet and try to complete it's most difficult route (which means "going through hell") before you start with Spelunky 2. It's not horribly wrong to just start with Spelunky 2, but as someone who played and liked both of these games I don't recommend it.

I didn't even know what "Law of 22 Prairial" during the French Revolution meant before I played this game. It means: Screw the presumption of innocence, fair trials and the possibility of imprisoning someone instead of just killing him. Let's just arbitrary decide whether someone's head is going to roll if he looks suspicious.

A simple low quality game clearly meant as a joke rather than something worth more than 10 minutes of your time. Might be suitable as a small kitschy present if you have no idea what else to gift and want to make someone smile for a second. Otherwise I don't recommend it.

In this game you can beat up a Catholic priest with a broom and then hand him over to the devil. Do I need to say more?

Another retro shooter which actually IS one and isn't just pretending.

Based on the same engine as Duke Nukem 3D from 1996. Nice to see that people are actually still doing this sort of stuff.

I had some doubts that this will be worth buying for it's price, but I was not disappointed. The game is actually very well made despite deliberately using some outdated technology from the 90s.

Also the developers eventually decided against obeying SJWs and their censorship. A good example for all the others (except that they obeyed in the beginning). Just make your games as they are intended to be and don't let anybody restrict your artistic freedom.

This is what I call a retro shooter. In comparison to all the wannabe retro shooters out there this is something else entirely.

BTW there are living scarecrows armed with shotguns!

I'm glad they called this game "Dusk" and not "Twilight".

This stuff needs to be sold as a screensaver and not as a game, since there is zero interactivity.

I'm glad that I received it as some sort of a joke-gift and didn't pay for it myself.

1. Played a few hours.
2. Realized that the game is trying to mooch my money. (If you don't buy in game items with real money then you are forced to needlessly waste your time.)
3. Quickly forgot about the game and never played it again.
