If i had to describe No mans Sky quickly id say its "Like Elite Dangerous but simplified."

And thats true in just about every way including the immersion and complexities of the galaxy you explore. At the same time everything you have to deal with is simpler and you can more readily explore the cosmos without fear of being suddenly stranded or accidently fall into a sun as you attempt to refuel.

No man's sky is a game about exploration at the end of the day, you can head to a virtually endless array of planets and star systems and land on each planet you find to explore it as you see fit, most planets however, are sparse when it comes to things to do and see requiring lots of overland travel to find the various things besides deposits and resources.

but those things are there, and theres alot of them if you're willing to do a prolonged excursion on a planet. Alien ruins, crashed ships, dropped tech, abandoned outposts the list goes on.
Space itself can be a fun if daunting thing to explore with just as many opporunities for random things to be encountered as you fly about various systems.

The game throws alot at you early on but sticking with it things will slowly fall into place and you'll get the hang of things.

No man's sky brings the fun of exploring a simple, procedurally generated galaxy without too many strings attached, some people may like this approach while others might prefer the hard science and harder physics of something like Elite.

Either way snag it sometime and find a few pals to explore the galaxy together with. its fun.
