Full disclosure - I don't like puzzlers much. Something about having to work for fun is not something that sits well with me. And yet something made me try it. Elegant artwork? Style? Uniqueness? All of the above i believe... Discount too+ XD
Game is set as a story telling narrative that a player has to progress through, guided by hints based on symbolism and creative use of metaphors. Puzzles range from simple and elegant (but never stupid), to mind blowing use of 3D modelling in 2D environment (and switching back&fourth between the two). Hints are there to suggest a narrative and help a player enjoy the game avoiding manual pointless search- and-click routine, letting you to focus on the actual process of discovery (!) while the game assists patiently in the background.
Having finished the game successfully in 4 hours (and very proud of my own intellectual fit), I have purchased 2 more copies for friends & family to enjoy, because something as unique as Gorogoa, should be tried and played by well, almost everyone? Because it is that good and unique. And because sometimes you come across things that are so out of your depth or even your usual self, like in another galaxy, and that the only way you could meet them (it) is by an accident or during a steam sale lol. But all it takes is one glance to realize how unique, exceptional and original the thing that landed on your lap and that the only way forward is to treat yourself and see what the journey has in store for you.
I'll give you one hint, - it's not really about the story, although it has one, it's about the away it is presented and shared with you...

P.S: Although I am not planning to start playing puzzlers any time soon, I will play Gorogoa 2, if that comes knocking @ my door.

Beautiful artwork, wonderful music but repetitiveness of some unintuitive puzzles turned it into a grind. This inevitably kills the purpose of the game - to have fun. Frankly I am not sure what audience it is for? Beautiful artwork will attract kids but they won't be able to complete puzzles and jumping exercises, while grown ups don't need to have beautiful graphics to have fun... At the end it feels like a missed opportunity.

P.S: Got it for free, gave it a shot, played it and couldn't finish it due to a number of issues described above.

This game shines the light on the most unlikely side of any conflict that rarely gets mentioned - the plight of civilian folk. As in any conflict however long or short, civilians happen to fall in a group whose interests are most neglected. Countries, armies all have support systems, while civilians don't. This game manages to show it in great detail, focusing on basic needs, challenges and feats of ingenuity that people have to go through on daily basis just to survive. Gather, build, create, trade, rob, steal, kill and pillage... Great music, immersive atmosphere, many locations to explore. Decide for yourself who would you want to be - a band of brothers or a lone wolf. A defender or a bandit. A destroyer or a creator. A part of order or chaos. A jack of all trades or none of the above. Greatly recommended.
