Fallout 4 is one of those games that I can get completely absorbed into. Even almost 10 years later, the game still has that element that keeps you immersed into it.

Yes this game still has bugs. Yes there are things that I would change about it. However, this could be said about really any game out there. There is a reason as to why thousands still play this game on a daily basis... its fun.

1. Graphics: The graphics are a bit dated, especially if you look at things up close. That is to be expected for a game that was being made in 2012. That being said, it is still a gorgeous game...made even more so by mods that really push the limits of a heavily tweaked 20 year old game engine.

2. Sound/music: The sound is good while also not being a game changer. The music on the other hand is superb! I very rarely listen to the Pipboy radio so I can listen to the game music.

3. Gameplay: This is the part that most hardcore Fallout fans have an issue with. FO4 leans to the shooter side of things and light on the RPG elements that was really prevalent in FO3 and NV. I personally think it was a good move in order to keep things fresh. Base building is also a huge issue for most fans as this wasnt really a focus in the other games. Again, I like the base building because it brings a new element to the game (I would have done it a little differently though).

4. Story/Lore: This is where I can spend days exploring every nook and cranny of the game to get that little nugget of the overall story. I love the lore of Fallout. FO4 does a great job telling a story!

SO..... is the game good and is it worth buying almost 10 years after it was released? The short answer is yes. If you are someone who enjoys a good story (and great voice acting), then purchase this game. When I purchased this game, it was on sale and I was very unsure if I would like it. 15 to 20 minutes into the game, I was loving it and said that I would have purchased this for $60. FO4 is one of those games, that once played, it stays with you. Its one of those games that you will remember for a long time.

Fallout 4 is a much bigger game than Bethesda could ever have made. The vanilla game is still the same, and it's really good to start with. The mods are what make it outstanding though. It's arguable that, with mods, Fallout 4 is STILL one of the best games for PC.

But....this is just one man's opinion.

As a Roman historian, I cannot recommend this enough! The history, the intrigue, the subtlety, the story. It is all really good. The Roman connections with the Greeks, Egyptians, and the Sumarians is done exceptionally well. The endings, especially the canon ending, makes you happy and also sad at the same time. Even though you can beat the game in a single time loop, I opted to stay longer to get to know the characters that inhabit the game. The canon ending got me teary-eyed...like someone was cutting onions.

The only real gripe I have with the game, is that I wish there was more to do. Also, move this game to UE5 to offer better graphics. The graphics are superb but I think moving it to UE5 would be a good idea.

==Score==
Graphics: 9.7/10
Music: 10/10
Voice Acting: 10/10
Controls: 10/10
Story: 10/10
==TOTAL== 97/100

All in all, if you like history, this game is a must have! This ranks as one of the most perfect PC games that I have ever played. The only other game that I have ranked on a similar level as this is Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition. I never played Skyrim (or the mod that this is based on) but I love this game. Hard to believe that this great of a game was created by 3 people. I do hope they create more like this. :)

I honestly fretted over if I should recommend this game. On one hand, you have the incredible graphics and music. On the other hand, you have the near constant handcuffing...the game essentially forces you to play one way.

My biggest problem with this game is the "I don't need no man" modern feminist stance that Amicia has. It was hinted at in the first game, but it flat out slaps you across the face with it in this game. Several points in the play through Amicia shouts that she "doesn't bow to any man." Girl, do you know where and when you are? You are a teenage girl in the middle ages. You will bow when it is commanded. Modern military is like that today. You respect the rank, not the man. All the men in the game are considered bad and die. The only exception would be Lucas, but even he is portrayed as weak. You CAN have strong female characters without denigrating the other men.

There are a plethora of bugs. A good portion of them are game-breaking and forces you to reload from the last save.

What props this game up from being a trash game is the voice acting (though even that gets a little annoying sometimes), graphics, time period, and music. I am a Roman/Medieval historian. So the fact that the Byzantine/Roman Empire was tied into a medieval game is right up my wheelhouse.

Scoring system:

Music: 10/10
Story: 7/10
Voice Acting: 8/10
Difficulty: Super easy
Graphics: 10/10
Replayability: 0/10
Inserting modern woke feminist ideals in a medieval game: -10
SCORE:25/50

Overall, buy the game if its 50% or more off. I am nervous about how the 3rd game is going to go. Dont get me wrong, the first game was excellent...absolutely loved it. It pulled on the heart strings a lot. The second game just made me angry and frustrated. Its almost like a completely different studio worked on it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the TL;DR edition of one of the most iconic video games in history. Im not even sure how to go about talking about this game. This game, compared to the original, is so gutted and mishandled, it should have been a DLC for Resident Evil 2 Remake. Speaking of which, how do you go from a near perfect game of RE2R to this? Was Capcom so needy of our money that they decided to give us this?

Graphics [10/10]
Sound [10/10]
Replayability [4/10]
Gameplay [4/10]
Story [3/10]
Jill Valentine [1000/10]

The only saving grace for this game (besides graphics and sound) is Jill Freakin Valentine. She is my second favorite (Claire is my number 1 <3 ). Jill is badass without being a mary sue...which is rare in todays media. If you can believe it, she was supposed to be more fleshed out than she currently is. Her PTSD from the Mansion Incident was supposed to be a major theme in this remake with the clock tower being a dream sequence. The explorable Raccoon City was originally MUCH larger, Nemesis was going to be more of a looming threat, etc.

But what we got was this.

I do recommend this game, but ONLY get it when it is on a massive sale.

What can I say about this game? It is as close to perfect as one can get. As a fan of the original (and lets be honest, the entire franchise), I was hesitant when I heard about them remaking #2. To me, this game rates up there with Age of Empires Definitive Edition as a near perfect game...a 9.9/10 if you want a score.

Graphics: 9.9/10 - There are a couple areas where it seemed like it was rushed a little.

Acting: 10/10 - Nick Apostolides, Stephanie Panisello, Jolene Andersen did a phenomenal job re-creating the characters of Leon, Claire, and Ada.

Sound/music: 10/10 - Everything from the noise that the various zombies make to the safe room theme is top notch.

I understand some dont like how the A and B scenarios work, thats ok. I think that if Capcom spent a little more time on fleshing out the story better, theis game would be a 10/10. Oh, and we all love Stompy Boy.

I was on the fence about this game. On one hand, I do love puzzles in this type of game... it mixes it up a bit and keeps things fresh. On the other hand, I dont like all the sneaking around. So I waited for it to be on sale.

Graphically, I give the game a 8/10. In most areas the game is absolutely beautiful. There are areas that are glaringly low quality. Im not sure if they rushed those areas, had newbies create them or what. I wont say where as to keep from spoiling the game for others, but the areas stick out like a sore thumb.

The music I give a 9/10. While the music seems like an afterthought, it does sound like it would in this time period...very authentic. Sounds great too.

The plot/story I give a 5/10. Im not finished with the game, so it might go up. However, the story so far (im in Chapter 5 at time of this review) is very two dimensional. It is extremely boring in quite a few parts. Sneak here, sneak there, ok run for 10 meters, and now back to sneaking. I do find myself drawn to the main chars though...even if they do come off as annoying sometimes.

The game can be difficult if you dont like puzzles or fighting fully armored knights with a sling. lol.

Overall, I do cautiously recommend this game. But I would wait for it to be on sale.

****EDIT UPON COMPLETION****

Now that I have completed the game, I fully recommend this. While the story does drag it ass sometime in the middle chapters (as like a way of extending the play time), there are a great many parts where you feel for Amicia. I wont spoil it, but there was a certain cut scene that had me on the verge of tearing up...combining it with the music, it was indeed a moving scene. After the final boss fight, you are left with a small mini chapter that feels like a breath of fresh air... almost like a way to relax a bit before ending the game. It ends on what COULD be a cliffhanger. You almost want to see what happens next. (notice how the Atlantic Ocean is off in the distance so Im wondering if they will reside in England if there is another game). The character growth, especially Amicia, is noticeable and appreciated.

From a historical perspective, this game is basically a 5/10. Yes the environment, clothing, armor, building styles, etc are typical of 1300s France, but the plot is obviously not accurate. lol. Not to nitpick, but girls of Amicia's age (especially given her noble birth) would soon to be married off as the average noble marriage age during this time would be between 15 and 19. But I digress...

I update my overall score of the game to an overall 8/10.

This is a good game. What holds it back from being a great game is the graphics. When it came out, they were probably fantastic. Sadly as it stands now, the graphics are probably a 4/10. If this game gets an overhaul like RE2R and RE3R (which I highly doubt), then the game could be a 9/10.

On the story side of things, the story is engaging. It keeps you entertained without being overly long. The puzzles are dated but are really fun. I like games that make you think.

Overall, I give the game a 6/10.

I just purchased this game in hopes that it would be similar to the first installment. Maybe it is. Maybe it isnt. I dont know because the game keeps crashing 5 mins into the game. I've tried safe mode, ive tried lowering the graphics (even though I should need to since I have a kickass CPU, GPU and sheer loads of RAM (32g)). Nevertheless, the game keeps crashing 5 to 10 minutes into the game. The only saving grace here is that I bought it at 60% off sale. From what I did see of the game, it LOOKS great.

While graphically dated, this game is really well put together with an action packed, exciting and engaging storyline. All the events are believable and the maps are well thought out. As someone who served (in recent years), its nice to see a game pay homage to the military without throwing in useless garbage like: aliens, unbelievable stories, far fetched technology, etc. The AI seems a little dumb at times, ie enemies shooting a wall, or fellow soldiers walking INTO your grenade explosion. If they updated the graphics a little bit (call it "Airborne Redux" or something) and the AI, this game would get a 10/10. As it stand though, I give it an 8/10.
