I liked this game as much as I liked the movies. That is to say, I don't like it.

I blame Charles Band for this feeling, and the future negative things in my life.

I love being able to play childhood classics on Steam especially when it's been Remastered. This game is great and very fun to play along with having replay value. The few things I don't like is the inability to turn off the door scenes, I use a third party one, and the fact that not all cut scenes are skippable. If I can skip one, let me skip them all.

All in all for how much I payed, this game is totally worth it. I know CAPCOM released RE 2 Remake and RE3 Remake is coming out, but if they released the HD Remasters from gamecube for RE2, RE3, and Code Veronica X, I would absolutely pay for those and play the life out of them.

I highly recommend this game to literally anybody I talk to about games, even the not so huge into gaming gamers. Even though it is a remake, you do not have to have played the original game to fully appreciate this.
The combination of the terrifying elements, the trouble shooting, and the quick reaction scenarios that encompass this game just make it just a nail biter but a fully grasping game. You're scared to hell because you may think you know whats around the corner and don't want to press on, but you do want to press on.

The over the shoulder shooting mechanic suited this game well, I found the controls were very smooth and reacted instantaneously in the fashion that I wanted them to. I personally play with keyboard and mouse but even my controller based friends say the same thing. I was not disappointed with this replacing the old school tank controls.

Visually I think it's fantastic. The lighting/shadowing, ambiance noises, the sound track, the amount of detail put into each room/environment really immerses you into the nightmare that is Claire/Leon's reality. Playing this in the dark at night with headphones on will deliver how CAPCOM wants you to feel. I did have issues, and so have others with the cut-scenes bugging out, to the point it would break the game but it's not hard to find the fixes for this, nor is it hard to apply them.

Its not a super long game in the sense it'll take about 15 to 20 hours to get through the first full playthrough of scenario 1 then 2, but the replay value of this game is high. To the point you want to start studying routes, resource management, and try to obtain secrets and items you would have missed the first play through. On top of it there's a ranking system at the end, which if scored high enough, gives you unlocks to make the game further enjoyable. Also unlocking extras scenarios to play that are not part of the main story line.

I seriously can't recommend this game high enough and definitely feel it was worth the full price purchase. You won't go wrong with this.
