Early Access-recension
IMO better than the janky Dark and Darker, more pvp focused though. Very enjoyable with decent teammates that rely on each other and don't loot goblin. Solos get matched with Solos, Duos with Duos, Trios with Trios. PVP is not too gear dependent up to a certain degree, individual skill with class and map knowledge matters more.

People whining about dying too much to pvp probably: don't know their classes well, don't stock up on mats to make potions and flasks that are bountiful in game, are always buying equipment instead of using/upgrading heirlooms and are constantly broke, are too proud to say they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up when they get caught out for not paying attention in game or being overconfident. Never played this game nor dark and darker before the final playtest and I was able to pick up the gameplay quickly as someone over 30 + yrs old. Dark Souls this aint, you're just putting in 0 effort because you aren't into the game.

My recommendation, find a class you enjoy and stick to it to learn it inside and out instead of making multiple characters off the bat. Also go to the DB discord to try to find some teammates to help you out.

Gameplay and Sound FX are really good

Dialogue consistently makes me think "damn that's some bad script-writing", not cringe, not bad in a funny way, just... bad. in game squad chatter also same.

Cut-scene animations, in game movement animations not good.

Some buggyness - like one of my squad just randomly taking off on their own after redeployment on the mission map by taking a ride in the ARC (APC). Have no idea where they went as there isn't any way on the map to see individual squad members, only the icon for the whole squad, so I'm guessing that just isn't supposed to happen. They were attacked, knocked unconscious and abducted. Had to reload auto-save.

Oh yeah, no manual saves, all auto-saves, which means if you mess up you may have to replay the last 15-10 minutes. Only way I saw to consistently trigger an auto save is to weld room doors to create a shelter and rest the squad inside.

Right now, I'd give it 3/5 stars, I'm still enjoying it.

Undead cowboy brought back to unlife to steathily, stalk, rip and tear. Challenging, patience and exploration is rewarded.
Glad I found this game, its definitely fun, I have the bone knife only 3 hours in. If you scout and plan the route you take as well as how you will deal with enemies, its extremely satisfying. However there will be moments things won't go to plan, running is always an option as enemies reset if you get far enough away from them, except for a few that can almost keep up with your sprint. I haven't encountered any game stopping bugs so far despite it being early access, and the game runs like a charm.

One minor bug I've encountered so far, the Perk you can choose for always getting loot from enemies you kill does not seem to work, I still kill enemies and its a coin toss's chance that they will have loot on them, unless its an enemy with a firearm, they always drop their gun and ammo (which always frustrates me in other games because its illogical that they don't)

All in all, for 15 bucks, its a great buy if you like first person shooters where there is a big emphasis on exploration, planning and inventory management. Plus the game isn't even finished yet, I'm going to savor whats already implemented and gladly wait for the rest.

More Realistic Zombie game than Left 4 Dead, much slower paced, players must be methodical and cooperative to survive.
Some bugs persist, but the game is free and they aren't very game breaking, just slightly annoying.

As communication is important, if you have a mic setup, default talk key is click and hold middle mouse. Obviously if you can't click your middle mouse, then rebind the key.

Eagerly awaiting NMRIH 2.

Some pro-tips below if you're interested.

Pro tip#1:
you can use one-handed melee weapons/firearms with a flashlight, press F if you have the flashlight in your inventory while wielding the one handed weapon.

Pro tip#2:
The hatchet is by far the best one handed weapon IMOP, 2nd is machete, then crowbar and pipe are tied for 3rd. Its very easy to kill zombies with these 4 one handed weapons when you are using them in combination with the flashlight as I said in my first tip. I will tell you how in my 3rd tip below. I personally never pick up the sledgehammer/Fubar/Bat/Fire Axe anymore, those waste too much stamina even though they one hit KO zombies with one left mouse click if you have enough stamina, eventually you will get caught by a zombie that you didn't have enough stamina to kill with these 2 handed weapons.

Pro tip#3:
Never just swing at the zombies using left mouse click as you will quickly run out of stamina (unless you need to help someone thats caught, try to use 'v' instead though), charge up your attack for at least 5 (or more) seconds by holding left click and aim slightly above the zombies head to get a 1hit KO. You can do this without the flashlight in your other hand, but its much easier to aim the charged hit with the flashlight in your other hand IMOP.
If you miss your charged hit and the zombie is basically on top of you, hit 'v' to shove them back and get some room.

Pro tip#4:
READ THE NOTE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS TIP
.22 LR ammo and 9mm ammo take 2 headshots to kill a zombie normally, however if you aim down sights and hold for about 4 or 5 seconds, you enter a sort of super focused mode that allows you to one shot a zombie with that ammo to the head (your screen color will change, the edges of your screen will blur slightly, you will hear your character suck in breath and hold it). You can kill one zombie at a time using this method, then you have to hold the sights again. If you move your character while aiming down sights it resets the timer to get in to the focused aiming mode, but you can turn your characters body. So make sure you have enough space between you and the zombies you are aiming at.
NOTE: This works only for the Ruger, Baretta and Glock pistols, not the Ruger rifle or MP5 AFAIK. The other pistols already one shot zombies so idk if there is any benefit to be gained for using the focused aiming mode.

Ex how I play: use melee, 9mm and 22 LR on slow walkers if there too many and you need to make some room to run or clear them out. Use the other guns on faster zombies that are harder to avoid. Don't stand directly behind other players while they are fighting because you can block them from retreating.

Pro Tip#5:
When shooting zombies with any .357 ammo using firearm, any shotgun, and any .308 ammo using rifle, line up multiple Zombie headshots as much as possible as these types of ammo will kill the zombie behind the zombie you are shooting at as well if there is one there.

Pro Tip#6:
press C to use your compass to help you track down objectives on Objective based maps (IMOP i like L4D style objective based maps way more than the survive the zombie waves based maps)

I can't recommend the game in the state its in right now. Random encounters, of which there are many, most of them hostile, are way too difficult right now. Most of the time you'll be outnumbered and killed by wolves, bandits, cultists or unfriendly scavengers while traveling to the next destination. I played the game on normal difficulty and was barely 1 hour and a half into the game and it was next to impossible to travel out of the first town without dying constantly. I don't mind that the game is hard but you don't even get a chance with these random hostile encounters. That is my number one biggest gripe with the game right now. I'll update my review when this gets balanced. Your player character is still solo at this early point in the game, so that only exacerbates the issue.

Random Encounter maps have no resources (junk to craft with, ammo, food, useful items in general) aside from whats on NPCs, as far as I could tell from the ones I ran into constantly at the beginning


The crossbow and bolts that you can craft with materials you find in the beginning is next to useless unless you're using them on tiny rats, spiders and wasps that can't really threaten you even at level 1 unless you're braindead, beyond that it doesn't really do much damage which is a shame. Crossbows should not be classified as thrown weapons, they should probably be incorporated into melee or rifles.

Shots aimed at a specific body parts such as the head are useless despite having aim penalties attached to them. Head shots on npcs with no head armor do not kill instantly with a cross bow or gun, I'm assuming it wouldn't give any movement penalties or aim penalties for hits to the legs or arms respectively either.

Ammo damage doesn't make sense, why does a rifle that uses a 7.62 x 39 cartridge do less damage than a rifle that uses 5.45.

the pause button (space bar) is your friend!

The game is relatively bug free, but definitely needs some polish, such as the unit pathfinding needing a bit of improvement.

As fun as the game is now, it really needs a few balancing passes, with the amount of upkeep units and buildings have the economy is little difficult to grow without constantly expanding your colony. There are other things I think need balancing as well, but the economy is most important I think at this moment in time.

Couple things I did not like was that the Titan (late unit game) had a constant oil upkeep and if you find only one oil derrick you're able to support 5 titans, thus you must expand to find more. And, the ranger unit that uses a bow and has a fast movement speed has a longer attack range than the slower Soldier (who uses a firearm). I also believe the sniper should have a longer attack range to compensate for its slower fire to make it more viable to use in conjuction with watchtowers/scouttowers or as backup for frontline units.

I also believe Banks should increase your income capacity on top of the wharehouses.

I paid 20$ because I bought it from the Numantian Games dev website, but even at 25, soneone who enjoys challenging but accessible RTS's would definitely get their money's worth as the game stands now.

I like the game a lot, considering how old it is, the story is interesting. For 5 bucks its worth buying to even see if you can play it without constant crashes as I've read that some people are lucky as hell and have none. Sadly I am not one of them..

unofficial patch didnt help me at all, but maybe it will help you.
Tinkering around with the resolutions and anti-aliasing didn't help me at all, but maybe it will help you.

maybe ill try running it in an XP VM...

These developers made Zombie Panic as a Half life 1 mod, then Zombie Panic: Source, which are free. Then this game that takes ideas from their 2 previous games because they wanted to make money. All the games are awesome but challenging. As others have mentioned the player bases are really small, it sucks because these games have great features.

This game is shaping up to be a really good ARPG, and when it's finished, will probably be better than Path of Exile. As it is right now it is Feature complete and they will probably be moving into Beta very soon, there are very few bugs in the game as it is and so far in my 45+ hours of playing it I've encountered no game stopping bugs, not one. The class masteries/skills are in dire need of balancing, as there are numerous complaints from players on their forums saying playing one build over the others will make even the hardest difficulty a breeze, also people can dupe items, which makes playing for 10 hours trying to get a specific drop from a monster pointless. But the Devs are very attentive and will introduce gameplay balancing and put measures to stop clients from duping items, all this to come in beta before official release. Definitely recommend if you're into ARPGs like diablo and torchlight. If you liked Titan Quest then you will probably like this game as it is very similar, and the Dev team came from the team behind TQ. Also you have co-op so bring a friend, makes the game harder but more loot.

As an RPG Fallout 4 is an insult to that genre, as a FPS its quite good compared to the other games in the franchise, and honestly thats why many people will buy this game, because sitting in front of a screen listening to and reading dialogue, weighing your choices and not shooting things doesn't appeal to the masses, but then fallout was never about appealing to the masses, until now. Because Bethesda wanted to capture a much wider audience with Fallout 4, a lot of the heart of what made Fallout 3 and Obsidian's even better Fallout: New Vegas is gone here. I'm not hating on people that don't like or have time for rpg's, I have lots of friends that buy shoot em up titles almost exclusively and loathe rpg's, I'm lamenting the fact that Bethesda has sacrificed Fallout's definining element for mass appeal. It's a such a shame.

Want a great RPG experience with a good story where your character can effect his surroundings? get New Vegas and enhance it with some great mods, now im not saying New Vegas is the best rpg ever made or even that it has the best story line, but I can tell you that the rpg elements and the story are miles ahead of Fallout 4. In trying to be good at all things Fallout 4 succeeds in mediocre story telling and kinda good gunplay (as compared to the previous games) in a sandbox, but even the gunplay gets boring after a while, due to enemies just becoming bullet sponges on the higher diffulties; probably one of the many reasons why a level cap IS a good idea.

I can give you 2 examples ( out of many ) of how the game is not an rpg. Early on in the game, you come across a group of survivors in concord being attacked by raiders. Fallout 4 makes it so they are essential ( for some reason? ) and that you must help them to advance the story. If this was a true rpg, you would have the choice of
1. Allying with the raiders to split the loot
2. Helping the trapped survivors ( and having the choice of asking them for a reward afterward )
3. Telling the raiders you're just passing through and that you're no threat to them
4. Getting the raiders to retreat through a speech check. ( no combat option )

These types of choices are mostly absent, one notable brilliant exception is when you first stumble upon the Drumline Diner after Concord.

2. Everyone in the game treats you as if you're fresh out of the Vault regardless of your level, the amount of caps you have, and your gear. Kinda stupid someone would treat me condescendingly when im in power armor, kinda stupid someone would think I'm a synth when I'm allied with the brotherhood.

Heres hoping Obsidian Entertainment will make a much better addition to the franchise in a few years.

I don't recommend this game if you're looking for an rpg, I was so, thumbs down.

Also if you comment on my review and say that even though I don't recommend this game I still played it more than you, it means that Bethesda and the gaming industry achieved its goal; Hook people who get obsessed with a game for between 40 - 100 hours before getting bored and moving on to the next triple A title, and then the next, and the next, keeping that hype train running smooth.
