It's alright

Everything you heard about this game is true. If you can tolerate turn-based gameplay, and are into investing a lot of time into a long, epic story, then this is an easy recommendation.

I give it 5 Nat 20s!

God of War...What is there to say? This sequel takes every aspect of the 2018 game to a whole new level. Combat is fluid and satisfying, there are tons of enemy types, and an awesome story that is told extremely well. That's not to say anything of the amazing graphics, that can also scale down to be more than playable on the steam deck.

Hey! Remember Tribes: Ascend, where HiRez made horrible decisions culminating in the reverting of all purchases before their bad decisions ultimately destroyed the game permanently?

Well, meet Prophecy Games! HiRez has such a bad reputation they're too scared to use their real name, so they have this fun little subsidiary to try to screw players over even more.

I bought this game just to leave this warning and refund it. Let this game die. It will be a complete waste to invest in any capacity toward this game or this studio.

I don't normally review games until I have completed them, but I think this game is worth an exception. For one, the game runs ridiculously well right at launch. I have it running at 4K with Medium graphics and DLSS on a 2080, and getting ~90 FPS! Besides that, everything else seems to be a noticeable step up from the original.

That being said, this game picks up right where the first one ended, so I would recommend playing the first before giving this a try.

DRM killed this on Steam Deck. It was working for years, so I thought it would be okay to purchase things from their store. Now it's just gone, waived away by an artificial hand. Well, at least they can't blame Linux when their lobbies remain filled with cheaters.

Though it's a blatant ripoff of vampire survivors, and one of many in a large wave of copycats, I still tend to prefer this game in terms of the genre. I like the graphics, it runs very smooth, and is the easiest of them to pick up and play for quick bouts at a time.

I give it 5 relics

Holds up surprisingly well for it's time. One of the rare games where it ONLY worked on Linux, due to a .dll issue that I could not get working on my living room Windows machine. It's a short campaign so definitely worth checking out if you want to go through it before starting the sequel.

My only gripe is the combat is showing it's age, where executions lock you in an animation where you can continue to get hit, very not fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game from beginning to end. I would've liked to see more diversity in the boss battles. Unfortunately, though, once you get the hang of combat, every fight becomes relatively easy, even on hard mode.

If you're looking for a refresher on the DBZ series with some fun gameplay in between, this is it.
