If anyone is interested for a review from someone with over 100+ hours in this game here it is. I've completed everything there is*** (there is a single secret achievement left for me to unlock but i'm honestly too lazy to do it), unlocked all skins for all the characters, all runes, all weapons. Also completed all levels on the highest difficulty pre-rework in under 8 minutes for all the maps.

Personally don't care about graphics in this type of games, so I'll leave it for you to decide if you like 'em by looking up a youtube video or something.

I'll break this review in 3 categories:

1. Classes, Skills & Balance
2. Difficulty
3. Grind

Let's get this started:

1.

There are 15 classes/characters in the game at the moment of this review, each of them has 4 weapons to select from, each of the weapons has 2 unique abilities and on top of that each character has 3 unique abilities. On top of that you have general abilities (for all characters) AND hear me out, you can also take runes that will unlock the skills you didn't have access to by default. THAT'S A LOT OF ABILITIES. If you are new to the genre and don't care about meta-gaming, don't read the next paragraph. Buy the game and enjoy variety.

When I started the game I believed the possibilities are endless, but that's not really true, if you want to finish maps really fast there are strats to do so and it will require you to select very specific weapon/ability/rune combinations. Generally speaking I've found myself looking towards the same type of builds as they seemed to just work better than the rest, 3 abilities applying stacks of debufff, 1/2 abilities that deal& damage based on said stacks, 1 ability that buffs my character. That's the winner composition for almost all characters, trialed and tested.

I'm not sure how much development time goes into balancing the characters but it can be said that some of the classes are straight up better than the others. For example, I found the newly added Monkey King to be sub-par in performance to all the other classes, even weaker than the Death Knight (which was my previously most disliked class). Of course you can make all classes work, but I'm still not sure if they can clear endless max curse on the hardest map. For a more casual player this might not be a turnoff, but if you are planning on min-maxing or going for the long grind, you'll quickly discover that balancing between classes was a little overlooked during development.

2. Difficulty

Difficulty in this game is HIGHLY customizable, like really, you can make the game as hard/easy as you want.
Maps go from Curse 1 ( just a little harder than normal) to Curse 7 ( much harder than normal) and the new patch also gives you the ability to play around a little with the curses to make it easier.

I personally didn't have a problem with difficulty pre-rework and I don't have one now, IMO they made the game a little easier.

Higher curse levels come with bonuses.....which lead me to my next point:

3. THE GRIND

Everything in this game costs currency. You get said currency by killing stuff or destroying stuff around the map. But here's the catch, the higher your curse level the higher the bonuses so the faster you get to craft your desired weapon or level a character. Not only that, but some materials are locked behind highest curse levels.

Honestly this is the best part of the game. Every time you click "Fight", you have an objective in mind and man it feels good to craft that new weapon.

The longest grind in-game is to max out the level for all of the classes atm, but there are strats to make that easier.

Conclusion:

Balance is a little iffy for some of the classes however the rest of the systems were designed beautifully and the game will get you hooked. Don't be scared to go for the higher difficulties as they are not that hard/punishing. Grind is enjoyable.

On the surface it looks like all the other games of the genre. However, it has it's own interesting twist. You should give it a try.

The game is okay. It's a decent way to pass time, but is very shallow strategically. It's cool how many different characters and runes you can run, although to get all of them takes an extraordinary amount of grinding. And the differences between all of the characters isn't actually that different once you get into the game, seeing as most of them share the same abilities other than their basic ability. The worst part, I hate to say it, is the game play. It's a single-button game; spacebar. In the higher difficulties it's just a game of running around in a circle and spamming spacebar. There's also some pretty unfortunate RNG when it comes to skills you get. If you low-roll good skills in the first 10 levels, you basically need to restart. And if you don't high roll skills, higher difficulty bosses can take a disgustingly long time to kill because you can't get anywhere near them in the first place.

So, it's okay. It's a cheap, fun game, but don't expect to be blown away. You will likely get tired of it very quickly.
