Now, I've been playing this game while I'm going between my uni and home, so my hours isn't really representative. But it's a really calm game that I've been enjoying an awful lot. The endgame feels a bit lackluster, but otherwise I think it's 3 dollars well spent

Let's see, how many hours has it been ? *checking* 186 ? And Still Climbing ? ok then it's time for a serious review

First and foremost for people who are thinking about buying this game

IT IS DEAD

Bandai Namco have moved on to the next Sword Art Online Game (that being Alicization Lycoris) and this game is currently getting no big updates

with that out of the way, let's get started

Starting with basic story

-This game starts its story just before SAO S2's Phantom Bullet Arc, Which means Death Gun is just about to start his spree. We (protag) just bought our Amusphere and Just started VRMMORPG Gun Gale Online (ggo for short). with our childhood friend Kureha we start our journey from being the newbie to being the savior of GGO as a whole.

If this did not make any sense to you, it won't in the storyline

Continuing With Gameplay

This game is an TPSRPG (don't know ? google it).
Since it takes place in Gun Gale Online and not in Alfheim online or Sword Art: Origin or smth it uses guns and (oh how original) photon swords instead of Hard Steel Swords, though the gun play leaves something to be desired. Being an RPG the game has heavy use of skills and skillsets, but unlike Hollow Realization where you have pages and pages of skills in your disposal, you have 4 skills and 4 equipment slots for each weapon, with that limit being 2 weapons. The character feels like they're moving on a cloud Especially when running, and the guns feel like you are doing no damage, since this game carries the old mathematical damage system unless the shot you just did was a stun, the enemy Will Not Budge. What else, Ah Yeah The AI. Just like in HR and AL you can take 3 AIs to work with you in those very hard dungeons. Now To be honest, Which SAO Game was This ? I've never heard anything good about SAOs AI's. They're Suicidal, They Don't Listen To Your Commands and stuff like that. But I Feel like This Game Takes The Cake For The Worst AI's In SAOs. In Hollow Realization and Alicization Lycoris, The AI won't attack unless you start attacking. In this game I don't even know where my teammates are when I start attacking. Most of the time when you are moving along they randomly decide to attack that one enemy who does not even care if you are moving through there, you always need t- HAVE to give them commands for them to be semi-competent. Now Optimization. This is a game that Came out in 2018 using the Unreal Engine 4 so you wou- WRONG. I have a Ryzen 1600X and a 970 and somehow this game manages to run like crap. The first week I bought the game I think I saw 60 fps, but never after that. So lastly, Characters:

I won't be talking about the SAO Main Characters unless there's a change in their counterpart with Gameverse, and I will talk about every one here since this might be your first entrance to SAO Gameverse (like me)

Starting With: Protagonist
Pretty Boring Dude (canon) since it's one of those types where I need to put myself where the character is

Kureha: Our Childhood friend that gets us started on VRMMORPG GGO which starts this story, the first character that we see from the start of the game.

ArFa-SyS: Our Little Idiot that we manage to snatch as an award from the tournament. She's (canon) technically our Second Character that we can't directly control but can control her stats

Itsuki: The God Of GGO, The Next Superstar or smth like that. He's one of the best players in ggo around, kinda helps us at early game

Zeliska: Another High Ranking player in GGO that helps us in the late game

Continuing with New additions to the Game Verse

The Entire Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online Cast:

LLENN: Still cute and likes being small
Fukaziroh: Small Grenadier that will kill you with whacking a gun to your head
Pitohui: You will want her at your side
M: Kinda wuss, still want him at your side

Alicization Arc Characters:

Eugeo: This is one character that I will specifically need to point out since He's still alive in the Gameverse of SAO with Kirito holding him back against Administrator in AL

Alice: Tries to understand the technology, kinda sucks at it

Subtilizer: [REDACTED]

Others:

Sachi: With her Leftover data She Returns As a NPC to Haunt Asuna Every Single Moment She Can Find

YUNA: As a copy originally created for a concert, she finds her way into Gun Gale Online

Eiji: In search for the YUNA copy that somehow found her way into the game Gun Gale Online in order to stabilze her

Older Characters From Other Games:

Yuuki: Returning to the point I've made up, In this Universe Yuuki manages to beat her terminal Illness and is starting to get Rehab

Sinon: Being an Former Medicuboid user and a player of SAO, she knows everyone long before the gang beginning GGO

Leafa: Similar Things Happen With Her, Thus Knowing Everyone before the gang starts Alfheim Online

Premier: Returning Character from Hollow Realization, tries her best to interact with humans

Philia: Continues her Quest as an Tresure Hunter

Strea: Yui's Sister, Loves To Hug. (tbh that's all I remember her for)

Rain: Our Favourite Stalker Maid ! (canonically) has a romance with us

So with those out of the way, Did I Mention That The Game is Dead ?

Let's do a TL;DR about the good and bad points of the game !


Goods

+This game (unlike other Sword Art Online Games) a Main Character that is not Kirito himself
+Personally the best Character Customization of Any big Three (Hollow Realizaiton, This and Alicization Lycoris) SAO games
+Arguably takes place in the best game shown in SAO Series (Gun Gale Online)
+Fun PvE if you have friends
+Vast Weapons which you can use it to create the dream build of your dreams
+Klein is as always, very funny

Bads
-This is a SAO game and just like expected the gameplay is below average
-Having an original story written by the Original writer of SAO, it still leaves things that need to be answered
-Just like most Gameverse stories, Fatal Bullet at some point tries to connect it's story with Phantom Bullet Arc with less than desirable results
-Gunplay is empty, being an RPG with math your shots does not have any effect on enemies except if you manage to hit a stun shot (which ain't easy)
-Late game pretty boring, just grinding for better eq with repetable bosses
-Klein is as always, pretty annoying

Even With All Of This Bad Points And Story Holes, This Is Out Of All The Sword Art Online Games My Favourite One, So I Will Recommend It For That And That Only, But If You Are Not Interested In Gun Gale Online Arcs, Stay Away From This Game.

OMG This Game Is Awesome.If you are not gonna play it just buy it for a friend and they going to be thankful to you in all of their life
