Honestly, this games gotten a LOT better since launch. And they really gave it a beautiful farewell leading to the launch of Battlefield 6. Gave it one final chance to shine in the spotlight. Still feel like BF6 could've also included a few 128 player maps for those of us who liked that sorta thing...

Absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ travesty of a game. I actually digged the first one. But this...just sucks. The bugs, the ugly graphics, the crashes, the horrible performance, the comically stupid story, the linear level design, the voice acting, sooo much to complain about. And not much to praise honestly.

This game is genuinely breathtaking. A perfect 10/10. My favourite game of all time. The world building, the atmosphere, the lore, the dialogue writing, game play, the score/music, the voice acting, the characters, the city/map, the graphics, the great optimisation, the political commentary, everything is just chef's kiss. And Phantom Liberty just takes it all and dials the 10 up to a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 11. Good ♥♥♥♥. 85 hours in, still no end in sight. The side content is top notch. I can already see that the replayability is gonna be off the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ charts.

This game will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first ever single-player story-driven video game I played. Now that we've gotten that disclaimer of bias out the way, let's continue with the review.

This game had by far the best writing ever in a Far Cry in my opinion. The only Far Cry where both the protagonist and the antagonist have both been done very well and fleshed out. The dynamic between Jason and Vaas is scary, haunting, beautiful, and eerie all at once. Watching Jason's slow descent into insanity and his growing bloodlust is alarming to the player, and we can do nothing but watch as Jason losing sight of his original goal (saving his friends) as he gets high on the chaos and violence, and eventually ending up being no better than Vaas. One of the most iconic cases of "You live long enough to become the villain".

I would also say that FC3 has the most interesting world/setting, and that it best skill tree system in any Far Cry by far. The Tatau was just the absolute perfect way to integrate Jason's character progression organically into the lore. Crafting is done very well too.

And oh boy, do the graphics hold up lol. This game is still a looker lol. The fire physics and effects are insanely well done, and the water looks absolutely stunning both above and below surface level. The healing and takedown animations are absolutely brutal and very gory which I love. They're also really smooth and hold up really well in terms of fluidity and polish. Vegetation is pretty too ofc. Set pieces are beautiful and over the top with tons of particle effects.

And lastly, I just felt the need to add this as an afterthought, but the AI in this game is really damn excellent.

The combat in this game is absolutely exhilarating, and the boss fights are sick as ♥♥♥♥. The cape physics/movement is simply mesmerising to watch. Graphics hold up really well, animations are incredibly fluid, AI is good. And finally, the story is actually pretty tight. This game quite literally ticks all the boxes. The fact that this is considered to be the worst game in the Arkham Trilogy (relatively speaking) is simply wild. Arkham City is gonna be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wild then, huh? Can't wait to rip into it.
