The performance isn't great, but it is playable, and I have to say I'm impressed with how well they've hidden loading times and transitions, even on non-PS5 hardware. I wasn't even playing this on the most up-to-date system, but fast travel takes actual seconds. It's the smoothest fast-travel transition I've ever seen. It literally zooms into the map, and then you're there. Amazing.

As for the action, it's more of what we've seen in the past, and with some of the edges smoothed off (in a good way). The stealth is slightly improved, and a little less frustrating. The combat can be frustrating during bosses, as misinput or bad timing costs you a lot of health, and there were times that I felt stunlocked, but there were moments when the combat really shined (when I could keep myself from button-mashing).

Traversal is still the highlight of these games, it's just such a joy to swing and glide through NYC. As for the web-wings, I thought I wouldn't appreciate the addition of gliding, but the fact is that getting over the large bodies of water in this game without them would be so tedious. I think they're decently well balanced, and they handle really well. It feels so satisfying to pop them out and weave in and out of obstacles. If you want an extra layer of interaction, you can turn down or off swinging assist, and turn on fall damage. Doing so requires you to think a little bit harder about your next move, even with gliding helping you over low-lying areas. I didn't even use fast travel in this one until the very very very end of the game (probably why I brought it up first, it was such a surprise the first time I used it). I just had too much fun swinging around. If it didn't take up so much of my hard-drive space, I would keep this installed constantly just for that.

As for the story... It's alright. It definitely didn't have the same impact the first game did for me. I feel like this game had way more moments where just... talking about stuff could have solved a lot of problems. It's a little frustrating. It was also mostly predictable, the writers can't help but show their hand as they go. Overall, it's not some groundbreaking narrative masterpiece, but it's good enough to keep you engaged throughout the runtime of the game. Some of the side content is really interesting, but maybe not fleshed out enough.

I think if you liked Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, you'll enjoy this one too.

This is game is a joy, a blast, a surprising and fun time with friends. It's maybe the most amazing thing that could have happened, the joint effort of two of the greatest studios to ever do it. It's got so much personality, amazing cooperative mechanics, surprises around every turn, and a lot of heart.

This game rules so much.

For someone who owns a number of roguelike deck builders, I'm not actually a huge fan of the genre. I like a Balatro, but I'm not a Slay the Spire kinda guy. Drop Duchy hits that good spot where the moment to moment gameplay is really engaging and you're making important decisions about your deck and how you plan your encounters, and the deck building aspect is frictionless.

Unlike other games where you need to find an event or some condition to thin your deck, in Drop Duchy you always have the option to sell cards you don't need, and you're limited to what's being brought into any given encounter anyway. This makes preparing for an encounter an interesting decision point, but not a pain to do. The flow of the game is maintained, the choices you make are genuinely impactful, but you're not bogged down by hugely complex and annoying deck management.

That means you can get right into the tetris portion of the gameplay with very little friction, and that's where the game really shines. Having to work around the constraints of peice order is an interesting puzzle, made slightly more tolerable by the fact that you can really shove pieces in places where "real" tetris might not let you. You can "t-spin" s and z pieces, for example, and the inclusion of non-tetraminos means that you can fill space on the board even if your placement isn't perfect. It's interesting, deep, and satisfying.

I highly recommend you pick up this game, regardless of discount.

This game is an all-time survival crafter. It's worth every penny, and more. Even in (late) early access as it is, the amount of content here is staggering, and the world design is so choice.

Blue Prince is THE dream game for the central part of the venn diagram of roguelike fans and puzzle game fans, and I'm confident that everyone else can get something they love out of this game. Avoid spoilers and RUN don't walk to pick this game up.

This game is great fun. The sense of speed is fantastic, the character designs are incredible, and it plays like a dream. There are minor frustrations with level generation making seemingly impossible levels from time to time, but it's probably just a skill issue. I kinda wish the items were a bit more interesting, but on the other hand I haven't even unlocked half of them, so it's hard to say whether or not they get better. I think it's definitely worth asking price,

As an aside / feedback for the devs: I'm really sad that the other playable characters were cut from the game, though I don't mind that the multiplayer element is gone. I followed development as closely as one could given the sparse updates over the past few years, and was really excited to see the variety of run animations and character models that I feel like we're now missing out on. Switching items just isn't as satisfying as switching characters. I understand the decision for story reasons, but if the characters were rigged and animated, I'd love to see them added back in as extra content, maybe unlockable after all shards are completed?

This is one of the best and most accessible rhythm games I've ever played. It's so simple to learn and improve at, and the skill ceiling is so incredibly high. But I feel so much more comfortable playing this game than most other rhythm game. It's incredible.
