This isn't Marvel flavored XCOM, but rather an excellent hybrid of Mass Effect or Persona's friendship systems and maybe Into the Breach's turn based tactical combat gameplay.

The combat system uses decks of cards to denote actions and those can be collected, upgraded, and managed to alter the potential actions you can use in the missions.

But the best feature: the ridiculous photo generator which can create comic book covers that can be displayed at your home base.

Jake Solomon's last game at Firaxis is a banger, people.

Short, clever, and stylish. If you love Return of the Obra Dinn or enjoy detective stories, this game is for you. It's a series of interconnected murder mysteries set in 18th century England. You start each chapter in an investigative "Exploring" phase where you collect keywords clues and red herrings. These keywords are then used to fill blanks to solve the scenario in the "Thinking" phase. It also features a wonderful soundtrack.

The consensus is correct: this is a classic. Phenomenal writing, voice performances, and gameplay interweave to make something even better than the sum of its very good parts.

I'm writing to say that I purchased and played this game to completion before it was re-released, and I find the weird hand wavey dismissal of the reviews given by the initial release gamers as dishonest and silly.

Take your lumps, WBI and Rocksteady. You released a buggy PC port. I muddled through, but played with incomprehensibly bad frame rates and then you guys bungled the post-release support.

Lessons learned: don't preorder. Don't buy WB games on PC until the GOTY edition drops into the $20-30 range.

Telltale strikes again! A witty, playful, and occassionally moving piece of storytelling in game form.
