P.S. I had to shorten some of this review's content, due to it surpassing Steam's allowed amount of symbols, therefore some game's aspects will be discussed briefly. I wish i didn't have to do this, but it can't be helped.

At first, i tried this game on 16th June of 2019, earned one specific achievement purely by messing around, which in result left me cheered up and with a realization that devs have a good sense of humor. Nevertheless, back then - i dropped the project, since at the moment i was looking for a different type of entertainment. But then, on 13th February of 2023, this game's time has finally came, and it was worth it.

- This is a first immersive sim i ever played in my life, so i don't know if it's the weakest, the strongest, or the average one among the genre. But no matter where it's going to end up - this is an amazingly impactful game overall. This is exactly a case when the game is a centimeter-wide and a kilometer-deep. All mechanics are fun, meaningful, consistent till the very end. Some of their branches are not polished to a finished state, but they will not prevent you from enjoying the game.

- Narration reacts to your actions - you can play the game as if it is totally linear, or you can slow down, take your time, an treat it like in an RPG. You kill every character in the game, ignore everyone's quest, serve only yourself and cowardly escape from problems - It's fine! The game still has a place for your kind. In fact it has so many endings - one of them actually covers this behavior specifically.

- While this game shares Arkane's own art style, developed during creation of first Dishonored, it feels drastically watered down, as if Studio never had enough time to ponder it out fully: ingame drawn pictures, half of props and human anatomy does look polished, but usable equipment, enviroment and the other half of props - does not. Overall it still manages to create an appropriate representation even by 2023 standards, but it lost its chance to stand out.

- Aside from recycling noises of (obviously) the recycling grenade, typhons' whispers and Gloo Gun's firing sounds, in my opinion, everything else sounds just okeyish. I think it's imperative for Prey's OST to accompany its SFX, and vice versa, because otherwise, by turning music off you'll contribute to the most unwelcome boredom's magnification.

- From my perspective, the game has 2 very good tracks, while the rest of the album reminds narrowly-specialized, difficult-to-listen-separately ambient. Which is actually your most-common situation in games, or probably just a little bit better, since i remember a lot of decent games where i couldn't remember anything related to music.

- Game crashed 3 times during my 132 hours of playing, and all of the cases were random, and did not break my enjoyment beyond reopening the game and continuing whatever i was doing without any further consequences.

- You're basically robbing Arkane Studios with such price tag, especially if you're waiting for a discount. This game deserves to be 60$.

So, to sum up: Game possesses an amazing story, tremendous gameplay, high replay value, it's optimized, and it's comparatively cheap. The rest of the game's discussed qualities are average, none of them any close to being bad.

I say it's a yes.
