So Dark Souls 2 is a funny thing, and I will keep this short, After 1600+ hours in total, across, xbox 360 Day One waiting in line for it to release, to xbox one to ps4 Sotfs, to now. I can proudly say as one of the original Dark Souls PTD players, Dark Souls 2 SOTFS is an optional experience.

Gameplay: Absolute garbage, and especially jarring if one is coming from DkS1. There is this innate latency that makes ALL movement feel sluggish and weighty (wrongfully so). I can find small things to appreciate about this change such as PvP is funner but i believe that fun stems from DkS2's stellar weapon changes and additions. PvP isnt as skillful or niche as DkS1 but is a small step forward in the right direction.

But Weapons are the last thing that SOTFS got right. It clearly isnt a Miyazaki title. The difficulty is nonsensical and blatantly unfair, Long Gone are the Days of GIT GUD n Madcuzbad. The philosophy behind Dks2's inception is clear as day, To cash in and double down on the difficult hype train started when Dks1 rose to notoriety. But the do it in the same vanity of the meat industry. The developers pumped this game full of STUPID, meaningless, artificial mechanisms, trapped doors, oneshots, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemies, and with the SOTFS release they only doubledown further, putting stupid meaningless purposeless enemies in random areas around the map. Which is incredibly infuriating when the franchise was built on its meticulous nature.

Anyways play it for the lore, use a mod or friend to give you all the souls and items you want, then play the game but wait for sale
