I respect Rockstar for having balls to change such a recognizable franchise as Max Payne so drastically and with all this, they managed not to break, but to make one of the best third-person shooters and to beautifully and logically conclude the character's story.

The gameplay formula remains the same as in the previous games: bullet time, jump, shoot. But they've added cover-based shooting, as in all their new games, which adds some excitement and room to maneuver. There's no unnecessary drama or sentimentality, Max got old and depressed as f*ck, and he either kills everyone or dies himself. And it's all polished to shine, the game is extremely satisfying to play.

Overall, for me this is the best Max Payne game, not for atmosphere, but for the gameplay. Too bad it's so underrated, I wish Rockstar instead of making another open world game for 13 years (what is amazing too tbh) focused more on games like this, which are short, but solid.

This game is a perfect example of how remakes should be done.

This expands the locations, lore and enhances the game's appeal to modern players, while still maintaining the original game's formula - Run, Think, Shoot, Live. Which is a pleasant surprise, considering the game was made by fans, not Valve. I think it's overall amazing, that's Half-Life community is so enthusiastic and dedicated, what gave us so many great mods and games like this one, Entropy Zero, Raising The Bar: Redux etc.

Many complain that the Xen segment is too drawn out and stuffy. But I think that an awesome work was made here again, Xen looks astonishing and interesting to explore. I think this is how Valve must have seen it, but couldn't implement due to technical limitations in 1998.

If you're new to this, I wouldn't recommend you to play this over original. Play OG games first and then play Black Mesa, that's how you'll appreciate it even more.

This game is just a rollercoaster of emotions, very good and demonstrative example of how you can reinvent the series.

At first glance, the game tries to look like a typical popcorn action movie, but at the same time, you never know what to expect next. And this is how it's surprising you multiple times during playthrough and it keeps surprising me again and again every time I come back to it, I find something new.

It's so fun, bizarre, sexy and stylish - definitely recommend to play this, even if you played the remake first.

One of the most underrated games of all time.
Zanzarah has very unique, beautifully built world, with great mechanics which had a huge potential to be improved even more in future entries. But unfortunately, the game just didn't make it, due to bad sellings. And like a cherry on the top of cake Daedalic dropped this broken stub and never updated it since 2015. Cool.

But the game is still alive thanks to fan modes, fixes and love overall, and if you still haven't, you MUST give it a try, despite suffering with installation and optimization, you'll enjoy it. Zanzarah has great replay ability and it's just a sweet and fascinating journey.

Заебал уже этот секрет небес, верните Рождённую Луной, только не делайте Виктора геем. История про Ходжа тоже хорошая, всё остальное какой-то цырк на воде ♥♥♥♥♥

I'm new to this franchise, but damn, first 20 hours has passed like a minute. We just don't get games like this anymore. I did't think that anything in this world can cure my gaming impotence, but gladly I was wrong. Recommend this game everyone and don't let the price and fan patch scare you, it's worth it.

This game is freaking stuffy and boring most of the times, but I love it. You just drive around the gray city for 30+ hours and listen to dialogues with rusnya. Nevertheless, the physics and shooting are peak. The atmosphere in the game is what you need if you give a damn about the plot and just travel through the dumps. Nothing will surpass San Andreas, but it's a hundred times better than clowny slush on the Five.

This game takes an average of 4-5 hours to beat, but I've already clocked 200 hours here. This is why we need HL3.

Seriously, with my mind, I understand that objectively, the first game is better and more self-sufficient. Maybe if not beta leaking in 2003, HL2 would feel much more complex and self-sufficient too. But from the other side, atmosphere and immersivity is what keeping me here. I can't name any game that would feel and look the same in 2004. Weapons are so satisfying to shoot, graphics are still cooking (especially if you put some mods) and for sure physics is the main trump card. Physics is what makes this minimalist and sparse game fun and adds at least a little replayability.

All other aspects are subjective, but once more - I love the atmosphere, how this world works and sounds (Kelly Bailey is goat). I love the characters and story and can't wait to learn what will happen next with our mute authistic scientist in suit, his mid looking girlfriend and her black disabled father.

1000/10
