It's a Bethesda game, it comes with all the bells and whistles one would expect. It's fun, it's janky, it's buggy and the community will fix it.

Starfield itself misses on a lot of opportunities and is ridden with load screens. If you take it for what it is, you wil enjoy it. Just give Nexusmods a visit if you miss something or need something fixed.

PS: There's a mod on Nexusmods which enables simultanous gamepad and mouse/keyboard input, for the ones playing with gamepads + gyro or on the steam deck.

Updated Review:

Lords of the Fallen - A Gritty Soulslike Experience
Genre: Soulslike
Overall Rating: 7/10, 9/10 if issues get fixed in the near future

Lords of the Fallen is a dark and challenging soulslike game that offers a mixture of engaging gameplay, stunning graphics, and an intriguing story, but is marred by performance issues and a few co-op limitations.

Positive Aspects:

1. Good Gameplay (+)
One of the game's strongest attributes is its gameplay. The combat system, which draws inspiration from the Souls series, is both challenging and rewarding. The weighty, deliberate combat mechanics demand precise timing and strategic thinking, making for an immersive and engaging experience. What sets Lords of the Fallen apart is its less restrictive combat system, allowing players to experiment and create their combat style. This flexibility means you can mix heavy and light attacks seamlessly, crafting combos that suit your playstyle. Additionally, the ability to incorporate ranged attacks into your arsenal adds an extra layer of tactical depth to the encounters, making each battle feel dynamic and exciting.

2. Good Graphics (+)
Lords of the Fallen is visually impressive. The game's dark and atmospheric world is beautifully rendered, with detailed character and enemy designs, intricate environments, and eerie lighting effects. The graphics contribute significantly to the game's immersive atmosphere.

3. Interesting Story through Environmental Storytelling (+)
The game's narrative is not spoon-fed to the player but is instead revealed through environmental storytelling. This approach encourages exploration and observation, adding depth to the world and its lore. It's a nice departure from more traditional storytelling methods.

4. Unique Dual-World Mechanic (+)
One of the standout features of Lords of the Fallen is its dual-world mechanic. The game offers two worlds, one for the living and one for the dead. Players must navigate through both worlds simultaneously to accomplish their goals. If you die in the world of the living, you get transported to the world of the dead, essentially granting you a second chance. This dual-world dynamic adds a layer of complexity and strategy to the gameplay. Sometimes it is necessary to switch between the two worlds to progress further and bypass obstacles. This feature not only enhances the gameplay but also adds depth to puzzle-solving and exploration.

Negative Aspects:

1. Performance Issues (-)
One major drawback of Lords of the Fallen is its performance issues. It's unfortunate that the game is not optimized well, leading to frame rate drops and occasional stuttering, which can detract from the otherwise immersive experience.

2. Prone to Crashing to Desktop (-)
Another technical issue is the game's propensity to crash to the desktop. These crashes can be frustrating, especially in the middle of challenging encounters, and detract from the overall enjoyment.

Co-op Limitations:

While Lords of the Fallen does offer a co-op feature, it falls short of its promises. Only the host player's campaign progress is saved, and the guest player does not receive the same benefits as the host. This limitation can make co-op play feel unbalanced and less enjoyable. The diminished experience points for the guest player can also be discouraging.

Post Scriptum: It's worth noting that if the developers can address the crashing issues and refine the co-op experience, Lords of the Fallen has the potential to become a solid 9/10 experience for any soulslike lover. The unique combat system and captivating world-building make it a standout title in the genre, and resolving these technical and co-op drawbacks would undoubtedly elevate it to new heights.

Old Review:
Game is actually pretty solid when it comes to gameplay but as this title keeps constantly crashing, I can't have fun for more then 10 minutes...

6800 XT, 5900X, 32 gb RAM, bunch of NVMe SSDs...

It's a solid "survival/crafting" game and definitely has genshin impact/zelda botk/totk vibes. I can't say much about multiplayer as i haven't tried that out yet.
The latest update changed the games world into a more cohesive and whole experience but also made a hit to performance.

By now most people know what to expect from Dead Island and since i have replayed it (together with Riptide) i can recommend this game, if you itch for some zombie slaying.

Story is okaish and keeps you entertained for some time. There are a bunch of sidequests. Riptide got a few more so called Dead Zones you can farm if you wanted as leaving and reentering them respawns everything inside. There are a few named Enemies in certain Dead Zones which were part of a challenge/achievment. This felt repetitive and the final levels of the campaign are recycled parts of the hospital/prison from dead island. I would recommend getting atleast 1 or 2 mods from nexusmods to fix the narrow FOV and maybe the essential fixes for chromatic abberation, motion blur, depth of field etc.

I used the essential fixes and increased the FOV to 85 (don't go higher as things break) myself.

Nevertheless, it was a fun ride and due to it's coop option might be fun for friends (have played it solo though).

Another update of the review.

Censored in Germany despite being approved prior already
So as you know, some countries go an extra mile (or kilometer) if it's about age restrictions and censoring gore. Germany sometimes is one of those countries but Darktide already got approved by the USK and rated 18+ because of it's gore.

No censorship is needed and this recent patch that just removed all gore and disabled ragdolls is ONLY DEVS FAULT.

Here's a link about what the USK has to say to this game and rating:
https://usk.de/?language=&rating=&genre=&platform=&jump=usktitle&post_type=usktitle&s=darktide

The PC version got approved 18+ on 24. November 2022 while the Xbox version got 18+ approved on 31st January 2023. Everything is fine and golden until the DEVS decided to take content away for people that bought the game prior.

EVEN IF YOU WANTED TO BUY THE GAME TODAY IT WOULD BE 18+ APPROVED AND UNCENSORED, this didn't magically change.

What i demand from you DEVS is to revert the gore changes back to what they have been when you released the game. With ragdolls on alive and dead enemies, blood and gibbing. If you don't follow through, i will go through steam and refund it, with a LAWYER if needed.

I urge everyone to do the same because money is the only language they understand.

I know that there's a statement out that says they will reroll this on DECEMBER 5th 2024 BUT they will keep the changes to ragdolls.

Class Rework Update:
So... fatshark finally got the game to a baseline where it actually should have been a year ago just to anger everyone again.
Last year i bought the imperial edition as i wanted to support fatshark, especially since i had so much fun with vermintide 2 and i trusted them to make a good game. Not only is it technically challenged but they now have got a "promotion" going on in the xbox store where purchasing the imperial edition gives you more aquilas (premium currency).

So if you purchased the imperial edition on release, you got 2.500 aquilas while today you get 14.000 aquilas. At the same time, cosmetic bundles went up from 2.400 aquilas to 2.900 aquilas. This actually means, getting the game now gives you everything we had a year ago + the ability to buy all 4 cosmetic bundle packs (krieg skins) and still have aquilas left over.

don't ever think you are going to get another dime off me fatshark

Old Review:
The game itself is solid, lacks a bit content but i am sure that fatshark will support it as well as they supported (and still support!) vermintide 2 with content. Gameplay is basically the same but in the W40K Universe instead of the fantasy-side. It is very fun although it lacks variety.

Where Vermintide 2 did a great job, Darktide sucks, the monetization.

In Vermintide 2, you could just buy a hat for 3,49€ and that's what you had to pay, what the shop offered you etc. Here, you need "aquilas" which can be purchased in packs. 500 (2,49€), 1000 (4,99€), 2100 (9.99€), 4500 (19,99€), 7000 (29,99€).
Now as you might have guessed, you can't get stuff for exactly these amounts of aquilas. There's an offer going on right now, skin packs for each class (sharpshooter, zealot, psyker, ogryn) which contains a few items, armor, trousers, hat, weaponskins, all for just 2400 aquilas, timely limited btw.

If you got the special edition (whatever it's actually called) where you get a few skins and start with 2500 aquilas, you will then have 100 aquilas left if you bought one of these packs. Now, how do you purchase another pack? you can't just get the pack for 9,99€ as this will set you up to 2200 aquilas (100 left + 2100 pack). you are 200 aquilas short...

Just the standard way of annoying your customers and making them buy more "premium currency" then they actually need. Insert some FOMO (fear of missing out) features into that and et voila, scum-level of monetization achieved.

As much fun as i have with this game and probably will have in the future, i cannot recommend it at the current state due to black patterns being used in their monetization strategy, lacking content und overall jankiness of the game itself. it crashes sometimes, it's pretty hungry for hardware and features are still locked out like the crafting system. only ONE part is currently in the game...

EDIT:
They have removed the timed limit on skins but said that they will still rotate skins out from time to time BUT bring back older skins later on too. they kinda remedied the FOMO factor a bit but there's still no way to add as many aquilas as a pack costs, leading to overbuying.

Besides this, games performance is still not where it should be.

It's Elden Ring, you know what you are getting.

32:9 5120x1440 still not possible natively. Needs mods for offline play and flawless widescreen.

Game is good and fun but doesn't work as of now. Requires a working connection to the Gameservers even when you want to play solo. Serverconnection dies every now and then, coop doesn't work as it's super laggy.

Overall, can't recommend right now.

---
Update on 22nd April 2021
Game is still a mess concerning coop. People still drop out, crash, lag like ♥♥♥♥ etc...

Edit after some more hours in the game:

HUD issues
HUD is still missing on every game start. To fix this i have to go into the game, load up a char, load into it, return to lobby and then again load into the char.
sometimes, return to lobby leads to a crash to desktop without any errormessage. this happes on dx 12 more then it happens on dx 11.

had to force it to dx11 (-force -dx11 if i recall correctly).

HUD sometimes just disappears mid game and randomly comes back after touching my banner (that kinda sounds wrong :D).

Connection issues
playing with two friends from the same country (germany) and all having good internet connection leads to random issues.
just the other day i couldn't travel from trench town to the wreckage zone. it just repeatedly crashed when i talked to jakub and traveled to the zone.

it feels super laggy and super crap when played in coop without being the host. never experienced such issues with any other game, be it remnant from the ashes, valheim (hosting server myself or friend is hosting), hellpoint (that one had other issues, ping wasn't one), borderlands (any).

random crashes and bugs:
sometimes the game just freezes with some UE4Madness error in the background.
sometimes it just crashes to desktop.
sometimes you just loose connection to the host/peers
sometimes doors that should open just won't open, only happens in coop, not in solo.
there are so many issues i can't even name them all here.

general stuff
i'm a software dev myself and have to deal with bugs and issues too, i know this can take time in solving, but this is just not acceptable. a game first being announced to release in november 2020, being delayed to april 2021 and even having a demo in between should not have such issues at launch.

it's been marketed as a complete experience, no games as a service kind of game. yet it needs you to be always on even if you want to play it solo. if you want to play the cooperative shooter in coop, you can't cause it bugs out on every thing.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is definitely a title worth being played.
The overall quality of the game is brilliant. I had no bug, no issues, no graphical issues or anything alike.

The game itself focuses on story telling (through voices, talking, cutscenes) and throws in some combat-parts and even bosses (if you can call them that). Combat-controls are very good and fun.

I played through it with a gamepad (SN 30 Pro+ if anyone cares ^^) and i would recommend either a 5.1 surround setup or some good headphones as sound is essential.

Go play it!

PS: If you are a achievment hunter, be sure to pick up all lore-stones as those will both explain the lore behind it (celts) and trigger an extra cutscene at the end (aswell as give you the secret achievment).

I'm trying to keep this one as short as possible:

Pros:
* GOTHIC 1 REMAKE
* Playable with Mouse/Keyboard and Gamepad
* UI is ok but meant for Gamepads
* You can stomp Meatbugs
* No severe bugs

Cons:
* Graphics. While graphics aren't really bad, they aren't that good either. Faces are blocky and armor looks strange. I do know this is a teaser (vertical slice) and i hope that's getting better.
* Nameless Hero ist talking WAY TOO MUCH. He's commenting everything he sees and does, that's annoying as f***
* No german voiceover? WTF?
* No "Ruhrpott-Charme". No "Volles Pfund auf's Maul". Everyone's just to nice and helping.
* I cannot attack people unless the quest wants me to?
* Combat-system is bad imho. That For Honor style combat-system just doesn't fit Gothic, it's just too limiting.

Overall:
I'd love a Gothic Remake which doesn't kill my eyes, isn't just grey-brown and has good controls. Gamepad is definitely a plus on this one, but the combat system isn't going to be my best friend. I'd prefer something more complex.
If the story is being changed/reinterpreted, then be it, but don't loose the charme the old gothics had.
