TBH calling it a new game won't be hype either. When OW2 was announced, a lot of of the playerbase just got confused (including me). If you're not in the loop it's very unlikely you'd get hype of a sequel of a multiplayer focused game since OW is not marketed like a AAA game, Rocket League is basically an indie game so it's even less likely. This is still putting aside the almost 0 effort on Psyonix to market the game to be not so North American, despite it being the region with the least interest in Soccer.
