whooo boy, as someone who LOVES both card games and weird meta-games, this was a match made in heaven for me. i haven't felt this compelled by a game since the literal week undertale came out and nobody knew anything about it yet. like other reviewers have said, you should stay far away if you're just looking for a new roguelike card battler. this is a completely different beast, and while i will agree that the first section of the game is by far the strongest aesthetically and gameplay wise, i had an absolute blast taking in every little thing inscryption had to offer. probably in my top 10 favorites of all time

this is like the donkey kong country to super meat boy's mario. slower, more atmospheric, a hell of a lot harder, and more focus on collectables/secrets. i can understand how that wouldn't appeal to everybody but i'm really enjoying it so far. the music is excellent but like always with ridiculon it's a little hit or miss in places.

the few qualms i have with it is that the game likes to throw new mechanics at you that are sometimes REALLY annoying and show up for that segment of the game only...so sometimes it feels really pointless and frustrating. if that seems like it would be a turnoff for you don't get this game because it loves doing that. also there are a couple persistent mechanics that frustrated me to no end, the polluted air/water being the biggest example.



other than those gripes i really enjoyed it. wouldnt reccomend it to anyone who doesn't like hard platformers, but if you do it's a must buy

this is absolutely not worth it at full price *FOR NOW*, as many other reviews have already said. but i wouldn't say it's completely worthless; the mod is going to get monthly content updates and i'm sure it will be much more bearable once that and other mods start coming out (judging if the mod tools are fixed by then, which i'm sure they will be). i'd say give it 3 or 4 months and wait on a sale before buying it.

this has the foundation of an excellent game that could be way better.

keep in mind that this is the devs' first game, and i'm sure that they're already learning a ton of balancing lessons from the feedback they're already getting. i predict that in a good month or two this game will be a whole lot better than what we have now, if the devs are good about balancing the more unfair things (like pickup drop rates, chests, and how boring the first few floors are).

i'm not saying that i hate this game, not at all. the graphics are fantastic, the game is filled with style and humor, and it has a kickin' soundtrack. it's just that the gameplay has some very nagging issues that i trust will be fixed in no time

this is almost assuredly goty for me. hell it's up in the running for game of the century imo. seriously, play this. go into it as blind as possible
