I bought this game ages ago, and they have been adding so much I wish I had some other way to give them more money. Can't wait for the new game!!

Very good, very expansive for a demo, and lots of fun quirks to learn and exploit. There are some pretty glaring negatives, especially considering its a demo/alpha.

Pros:
Grappling is great, swinging is great, and the fast reel is REALLY great
Ship customization having both gridded and freeplace options is top notch, reminds me of Last Oasis (positive)
For those that have played Worlds Adrift, its exactly what you'd expect and more. Most of the old features made it over (even a few edge cases you wouldn't expect.)
Sound design is fantastic, lots of small tactile responses to simple actions make the gameplay feel more satisfying.
Music is also fantastic. Lots of returning tracks from Worlds Adrift, but also some very nice new tracks/renditions.
Progression seems pretty fair, if a bit linear. Tech tree is essentially a straight line, not like the classic web design of its predecessor, which allows for very little specialization in the early game for coop groups. Still well executed, though, just make sure you scroll down cause there is a lot.
Demo is PACKED with content. It feels damn near a complete game, if a bit short relatively. I got nearly 8 hours out of two of the four islands within viewing distance. There may be more, but I did not check.
Emergent gameplay potential. I made an oopsie and put my masts too close to my helm, meaning I would occasionally glitch up onto them. Not a problem normally, just jump back down, but I ended up with a lot of masts to fit a nice even aesthetic design. I ended up clipping up onto a mast while dismounting the helm to check my surroundings and got launched off the back of the ship. It was too fast to reel back onto. Quick reeling with the f key only brought me hairs closer, so I got out my blade launcher and tried to destroy a mast. The ship outran the blades. Plan C was to get my pistol out and shoot them with its hitscan, and after a panicked 70-90 seconds I eventually destroyed the two back masts slowing it enough to be remounted. Nearly went off the map, though, got a little lost in the clouds. Very fun. Would recommend getting careened off my own vessel again.

Cons:
Movement is near identical to Worlds Adrift, which is to say clunky and annoying. Climbing glitches around, tiny twigs stop you in your tracks, the likelyhood of tripping and sailing off the edge of a cliff is higher than zero, and good god complex swinging maneuvers can really glitch out sometimes. One island has a puzzle that requires you to swing and weave between pillars to get some mediocre loot was the hardest puzzle I had ever encountered simply because you cannot not wall run which vastly slows your momentum.
Lacking serious inventory management hotkeys. In the post-minecraft universality, having no options to quick transfer a single stack of items between your two open inventories is dreadful, especially when there are so many tiny objects you have to whip your mouse back and forth between to sort. It becomes very tedious very fast. The refill stacks buttons help a little bit, but there are also many item types so you still end up moving three or four single tile items before you're able to press the button.
Terrible item stack size logic. In no world should a stack of berries add up to 25, but a stack of cooked berries caps at 10. The difference between the two is like one or two more max health. It is objectively better to never interact with the cooking mechanics for single foods than to interact with it because you get more for less work. Inventory size is already abysmal as is, considering the huge mass of items, that attempting to stockpile anything is a fruitless and infuriating task. Compound that with the fact that the demo deletes your world state two hours after you have built the thing that lets you build *chests* for the first time, and you are in for a rude awakening as you are kicked to the main menu and lose everything you had just gotten because you were foolish enough to not know that they would purge your world after two hours.
Terrible item stack sizes in general. Nearly every stack size in the game should be at least doubled and homogenized. Many similar items will have wildly different size caps, and while some running themes can be seen, for the most part is seems incredibly arbitrary. Raw resources stack to 100? Perfect! Cooked berries cap at 10? What? If the fear is carrying a lot of healing items, which isn't an issue because you can only have 3 food buffs and cant eat until they wear out, then restrict stack sizes in the player inventory exclusively. Many games do this. It is much more convenient.
Multiplayer is completely FUBAR. The only way to play multiplayer is through public worlds because invite only and friends only are broken, but even public lobbies can have catastrophic issues. Someone lag out of your game? Well the game thought they were the host and that they disconnected, so it kicks you to the menu. Want to start that world again? Well, the host isn't in it. Aren't you the host? Maybe, who knows, still can't get in. You have to completely close the game and reopen it to get back into your world. I have not been able to hold a player in my lobby for more than a few minutes, but hey maybe all of my buddies have bad PCs.
No Quickhook. Returning fans will find that Bossa has seemingly chosen to remove a feature from Worlds Adrift that allowed for fluid grappling between things. While Tethered, a player could hold the grapple key again to break their line and fire another when the button was released. It had the benefit of keeping the screen stationary, making targeting much easier, and keeping the feeling of grappling fluid and consistent. In Lost Skies, you have to double tap the key and aim at where you want to grapple. It may not seem like much, but it has increased clunkiness by a lot and brought it more in line with similar games that have worse grappling systems. If anything, Quickhook should be a toggle in settings as it wasn't *too* intuitive for new players.

Closing thoughts: it feels like its gonna be great. Being a coop game, it could end up with a thriving modding community to add even more content and extend the games life by many many years. Bossa made a good move for the fans of Worlds Adrift; I only hope the game reaches enough popular potential to be profitable. It may have been a good move for WA fans, and they certainly got lots of comments asking for it, but with it being so much later it could be a coin flip if it ends up being the right decision commercially. Highly look forward to the full release after such an expansive demo. If anything, I will buy it to support Bossa at any price they ask. Worth the free download 1000%

Core keeper is a lovely game on its own, only made more so by the fluid multiplayer.

The bosses are fun, the items are neat, your favorite early game item can be scaled all the way up to endgame.

My only gripe is the extremely limited automation, but there isn't enough of a space constraint to make that a problem.

Do not feed the nightmare. Do not feed the system. Do not play this garbage. Do not stoop this low.

Paladins is free and also gets updates! TF2 is amazing and is feature complete, not needing any updates (still got one recently!) You can play literally anything else. Be better than this.
