Everyone's heard of the renowned Steam game, Bad Rats. In the current state of the gaming industry, it's a shining light in that it did things no other gaming company was willing to do. It was innovative, cutting edge, and overall a great experience for all ages. Now with the sequel, Bad Rats Show, recently released, I thought I would be a fool not to pick up the next installment to one of the best series of this generation. I went out to the store page, only to find it was on sale for a whole 50 cents! They're charging the same price for the sequel as the original masterpiece! Truly this has to be one of the most bold moves I've ever seen in all my years of gaming. I went to purchase the game, and allowed it to sit in my checkout cart for over three days so I could meditate into a state of worthiness to download and play this game. Once I was done with this, I purchased and downloaded the game. I won't hesitate to say that I shed a tear as I first saw it in my game library. After the download was finished, I immediately played the game, eager to play the obvious future Game Of The Year.

But upon playing the game, everything was wrong. The game starts off by immediately telling you that the entire game is just a show. A show! The Bad Rats that I know and love had the perfect sense of mystery to it, something that you could never quite put your finger on which lead to thousands, maybe even millions of debates online about the origins of both the rats and cats in the game. But, within the very first five minutes of this game, it completely ruins this sense of mystery by throwing it out there likes it's no big deal. Possibly the biggest lore bomb in the history of the series... all within the first five minutes!? The game dismisses this enormous plot piece right away, putting you into the swing of things. Just like the first Bad Rats game, you placed rats in order to make the ball reach a button; killing the cat. So far so good, right? Wrong. Slowly upon placing my rats, I noticed that all of my favorite rats were missing entirely. The famed Batter Rat has been entirely replaced by a new "Hockey Rat". The beloved Rocket Rat has been replaced by TWO DIFFERENT RATS-- both of which do the same thing as the Rocket Rat, but worse-- the Football Rat and the Motorcycle Rat. Even the ever-important Archer Rat, one of the most important rats in the series both lore-wise and for puzzle-solving, has been replaced by a measly "Mafia Rat" which does the same thing but with an extremely inaccurate SMG, missing the ball 99% of the time! What the hell? The only rat surviving from this rat replacement genocide seems to be the Bomber Rat, which being a Muslim is understandable to bring light to the problem of growing racism in the world today. But I cannot excuse the replacement of every other rat that made the first Bad Rats game so unique and full of charm. It's like the developers wanted to create so much new content that they forgot what made people love the series so much in the first place.

Reading the other reviews on Steam, I cannot believe the amount of ignorance going on in regards to this game. I loved the first Bad Rats game myself, of course, as everyone else did. It immediately became a modern classic, and my household currently owns a total of eight copies of the game; in addition to all of the rare collector's merch, including one plush toy for every original rat, a signed copy of the game disc itself, and a 15 foot tall marble fountain statue of Lung Rat which is on proud display in front of my home. And even despite this, I feel betrayed by the development team for making this game such an unholy abomination in comparison to the marvelous and brave Bad Rats game which singlehandedly began a gaming renaissance. If you're looking at Bad Rats Show and are still considering whether or not to purchase it, DO NOT! The developers clearly have missed the purpose of Bad Rats, and currently until it gets updated with the inevitable DLC I feel that it does not stick to the original vision that Bad Rats wanted.
