PlanetSide isn't perfect. But that's because it tries to do what no other game has even really attempted; to create an MMO scale combined arms shooter. The result is the feeling of being on the front lines of a huge campaign, and not just queuing for another match.

What emerges is a beautifully human battlefield full of absurdity, tiny victories, camaraderie, boredom, and hours of senseless struggle. Semi-organized play is the norm and the community is amazing.

A shining example of a true labor of love.

Reduce whole neighborhoods to no-man's-land in this grim dystopian sandbox. Mechs, hovertanks, and power armor beautifully rendered in 2.5D. A hefty difficulty curve and deep combat mechanics make this game feel more like a meaty sim than a twin-stick shooter. Levels are large, semi-randomized, and everything is destructible. With many interesting weapons and vehicles to unlock, replay value is extended. The pumping soundtrack and gorgeous retro aesthetics are icing on the cake.

Highly recommended for anyone who grew up with isometric tactical shooters such as Syndicate or Crusader.
