Mostly immersing myself into vast fantasy worlds of RPGs, jRPGs or side-scrollers, the occasional campaign shooter and action game always comes across as a refreshing deviation to the norm. Open to most genres, I don't usually play competitive games due to my low tolerance to 'salt'. I have hypertension, you see? Harharhar...

My opinion for Wilds is shorter than most of my write-ups because it literally speaks for itself and most of us know what we're getting into.

A very welcoming experience to newcomers and veterans alike. If this is the kind of game you're looking for, nothing else compares. It's great, go hunt! --for in-game secrets too! Use the achievements as a guide to seek out these elusive little things and get to know the new forecast, rest, *new* investigation, BBQ spit, and fishing mechanics! It's a blast to just wander around the maps solo or with buddies.

If there's one thing an OG (PS2, mostly PSP, though) player like myself can say, it's that Wilds is a leap in the right direction with all the quality of life changes they incorporated in the game. The biggest factor for me is the seamlessness of the entire package and the streamlining of a lot of old games' quirks built into the whole combo strings and action-reactions. Topping it all off with immersive and urgently-paced cutscenes; the only thing that makes this point better is the immersive and urgently-paced cutscenes where your hunter is quite intelligently involved. If you wanted a Monhun game with a decently meaty "story" coverage, Wilds has it, too.

In modern online Monhun fashion, we get a 'smaller' base game that they build upon with mini title updates and a usual major expansion over a couple of years. Which plays a little against someone with legacy knowledge like me who has explored a ton of secrets the game has to offer and finished my farming obligations within week one.

Thankfully, in addition to other QoL changes, crown hunting is actually quite manageable now! Yes, the binoculars has a purpose, if only for the achievement, and the Kut Ku is back to test hunters once again alongside some classic returners from older games that have not been "remastered" yet for next-gen standards (thankfully fishing for Plesioth is still not back HA! ...though I can imagine how cool of a "secret" that would be to "spawn" one maybe?).

For the future expansion, I do want to see some underwater content again since we have twin-sticks now (totally got teased on my first dive into the secret areas. Grr!). Specially that we're *most likely* to see the Lagiacrus back in Wilds. Even if they plan a second major expansion exclusively for underwater hunting, let's see this happen sooner than later, Capcom! Lore-wise, I think I would love to see the Artian civilization get fleshed out! Otherwise, I trust Capcom's Team A to get the future content right no matter what they do. :)
