This is not a AAA game, but is insanely worth the asking price, and these devs are known to listen and will keep on making it better and better as time goes on. Highly recommend

Really not worth the hype. Fingers crossed this isn't whats in-store for the sequel. Felt like everything they've learnt mastering boss design, level design, reward and progression systems from the past 12+ years they through out the window for larger health pools, lower windows of opportunity to attack and an excessive amount of one-shot abilities; same-same areas with large masses to explore, however less to see, and one of the worst post-game balancing "systems" I've seen in any game ever.

New areas can be beautiful and definitely cool to explore especially after draining the base game of everything it had to offer... but not a single moment got close to the feeling of arriving at the Profaned Capital, Nokstella, Volcano Manor etc for the first time. The exploration is still present here but the pay-off is heavily reduced, sometimes not seeing a new weapon, set of gear or talisman to suit even your most basic build making every encounter feeling less and less like an achievement and more like a chore. Some of these areas are genuinely so void of any life, whether atmospheric or literally... to the point you may have to go looking to find an enemy after 15 minutes of vast, empty exploring, trying to figure out where they've hidden the next area (hint: usually down some ladder that's easily missed, or a room you didn't see behind a bookshelf that can lead to 10+ hours of more sluggish, soul-less, point-less content if you dare to not scavenge every corner and weird camera angle like the rodent you are)

Best addition here is the new weapon types, which I'm excited to see in the next game whether it be a sequel or not, but fingers crossed FS take a step back, and maybe even a page from DS3 and Bloodbourne in making sure boss-design, basic progression, world interactions etc are actually enjoyable, and more importantly, fair. That feeling of learning a bosses move-set, and knowing when you messed up, and knowing it was your fault, learning, and conquering is what made these games so special. Finding new areas that blow you away in there grandiosity, unique-themes, one-off layouts all gradually leading to a boss at the end... to challenge, and reward you to move onto the next area is textbook stuff, but somehow they must swung, and missed here.

I don't think this will be praised and seen as the "holy-grail" of Elden Ring quite like what Ringed City did for DS3 (especially story wise), but a lot of the ideas they toy with in this batch of content definitely showcases that they are trying new things, which i think if given a little more time, will work out... excited for the next game until then.

Pros:

- Story: The story in this game is good, refrains from taking itself too seriously and doesn't adhere to a kid-friendly audience like other major titles would.

- Driving is amazing, some of the best in the series, the mix of handling, braking and drifting makes for some really intense racing.

- Cars new and old are all here and with an abundance of customization options alongside them, makes for not only a lot of options but a constant feeling of eye candy.

- The map is classic, having a major city with tight square street layouts, an industrial area, a more open suburban area and the classic upper mountain zone making the map really versatile for whatever thing you're into.

- The tracks are probably the highlight with most being really strong for the series, and a big improvement on making them feel like they are designed, not just made from whatever is on the map.

Cons:

- The "Heat" system: If you love the Wanted system from Most Wanted this will leave you empty inside, EA showcased "new and intelligent" A.I. for the new "Heat" system they were implementing, where similar to Most Wanted, has your "Heat Level" go up as you increase in reputation for that night. However, the insane jump from Heat Waves 4 to 5 showcase a level of laziness, where developers have simply coded A.I. to kill you instead of intelligently block you into a corner and bust you like they did in the past. Instead you have to be weary of your damage metre (which you can only refill 3 times a night at fuel stations) until you are killed and lose any Heat multiplier from that night (which is the bulk of the reason you do it in the first place). All in all this system needs attention and a tone down, give the players more of a reason to outsmart the A.I. not just run away in fear of being bumped and having your health plummet.

- PC Port: The port to PC is quite janky with controls and the key bindings really need to be re-considered as you can use your mouse minimally and most bound keys feel unwanted in where they have been put. I had to use a controller to enjoy it because of this.

- The Music: All in all, the music is good with some really good artists including Denzel Curry, Logic, Toro y Moi and a list of others, however with no control to take tracks off the rotation, if you were like me and can't stand to hear Machine Gun Kelly's voice for more than 3 seconds a year, you will quickly turn the music off and run Spotify in the background to compensate. It is 2019 (2020 when reviewing), a simple track list option should be MANDATORY in a game where music means so much.

- End game: End game unfortunately has me disappointed as getting the highest end parts requires getting a Heat Level of 3 and doing a high end race, or worse, getting a Heat level of 5 and doing the highest end race. However, these races seem to always incorporate dodging police cars, a helicopter spotlight and rhino's whilst also traversing some of the most complex high speed races in the game again some of the fasts opponents in what is one of the most unnecessarily difficult modes in any racing games I have ever played.

All up, I think its the strongest NFS title in YEARS however there are systems that need serious attention and hints of laziness that really leave a bad taste in your mouth. I would recommend this game but only on a sale as in Australia a year after release it is still $99, and for comparison; Cyberpunk2077 is $89 to pre-order. I picked my copy up of NFS Heat for $35 and I believe it was worth that price tag.

IF YOU TRULY HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO PLAY, THIS WILL SATISFY YOU FOR AN HOUR OR SO.

From the loading times that can vary between 5 minutes to never ending (with no way to know the difference), to over-militarised style of the game becoming stale, this game has really turned into a bore due to slow developer releases, sub-par entertainment and an overall loss of direction from Rockstar on where the game came from, and what it's meant to be.

GTA in it's purest form is about crime, and cars, and somewhere down the line in the mess of an online mode GTA5 has given us, it has become a game about arming yourself in preparation for a world war. From flying bikes with rocket launchers (that you can't avoid); to tanks; to missiles you can shoot from a satelite onto a player for a hefty fee, that doesn't miss unless that player goes under a bridge or in a building to hide, this game is a fat, sweaty, teenage boys, wet dream.

Pair this with the sub-par releases that have slowly trickled out requiring you too buy a new piece of real estate (every time) for over a million dollars (and that's just the ones at the, very inconvenient top of the map) - even though there is no way to sell your older property which becomes useless as every update is released. This is just one of the subtle ways that Rockstar has pushed players closer and closer to being forced to buy in game currency with real money through 'Shark Cards' in order to experience new updates without having to do 10 hours of old. stale content, again.

I can only hope that in the future games Rockstar will put more effort into the cars they bring out, and customisation for the cars especially, and less on militarising 12 year olds with power complexes, and I can only hope that they fix the loading screens, as I'm certain that at least 10% of my hours played on this game have been in them, and this game does not require that much loading time.

Although this game has it's flaws, it is overpriced and comes with bugs and an abundance of unprecidented hackers. Love it or hate it, up to you.
