It's the best city building game in town. There are issues with the game but the devs keep working on it and improving it.

Completely unusable for training. I am a CFI/CFII who often has students ask me to provide recommendations for a flight sim for training. I was excited about the VFR flying potential of this sim. I finally got around to checking it out and I can't possibly recommend this to aid in flight training in any way. I only tried the Cessna 172 as that is what I fly in. I spent a couple hours trying to tweak the sensitivities to get it as close to the real world as possible.

Update: gave this another try and no the PFDs and MFDs are not working. Searched for an workaround, followed all the guides and nada. Don't waste your money on this. Use X-plane.

Since I was excited about the possibilities of using this as a possible stand in for VFR students as well as IFR students I will provide feedback for both.

VFR: There is a small benefit here. The tutorial is pretty good to get people introduced to the basics of flying and it even goes as far as introducing a good sight picture but that’s where the benefit ends. The steam gauge 152 handles pretty well and is a good introduction but when you switch to the G1000 cessna 172 it completely falls appart. The trim and power settings completely reset themselves every time you go into options to try to adjust something, the radio navigation is almost completely impossible to use in the plan as it is so easy to miss click. Each input of trim offers a miniscule adjustment to the actual trim meaning you spend far more time than you should trying to get the trim set up (to be fair, this may have something to do with my logitech panel but there is no way to adjust the sensitivity). The G1000 in the sim doesn’t really resemble a real one at all. There is no benefit in using this as a procedures trainer since you have to skip so many procedures to actually fly the plane. I’m worried using this will cause my students to develop bad habits and cut corners.

IFR: worse than useless. The automation isn't anything like the real world plane with the autopilot getting confused every time you pass a fix. Too many real world approaches are missing from the database completely. When trying to cycle through the CDI needles it often gets stuck on NAV2 without being able to switch it over. Whenever you pause the game or go to the menu to adjust settings and come back all your trim settings are reset to "set for takeoff" Interactions with ATC are very wonky but this is true of X-plane as well.

After adjusting all the controls in the menu I loaded up a situation and all the controls were back to their default options. I'm sure I can probably spend dozens of hours trying to figure this all out and might be able to get it working in a passable fashion but if you are looking for something to practice flight training in go get X-plane.

This game is almost everything I want from an open world RPG. So far the story line is intriguing, the quests are fun and there is a TON to explore. One interesting aspect of this game is that it forgoes the mob of bad guys, wolves and various things trying to kill you that pop up every few seconds that you might find in other RPGs for a more realistic approach of getting into a fight is a rare occurrence. This is a slow paced game with a few fast paced moments. Extremely well made but several small bugs and glitches are evident but not game breaking.

I can't wait to see what additional content the developers come out with.

This is still one of the best games ever made and it is just as playable today as it was when It was released. TIE Fighter holds up surprisingly well. It is sad that 20 years later they still can't make a game that is remotely as good as this one.

Great game that still holds up amazingly well today. I really wish they would relaunch this series of games in the new canon with new stories. But I fear we will never see that happen :(

Solid start. Before you get this understand this product is in early access. Bugs, incomplete features and issues are par for the course and this is no exception.

I putzed around Miami/Fort Lauderdale are, cruised along the beach and tried a few standard flight training manuevers on my fist flight. The sim ran smoothly between 25-35 FPS (a little lower than I prefer but no where I prefer but definitly not as bad as others are claiming. The flight model is pretty solid but that is no surprise.

This is basically FSX 2.0 at this point. I'm hoping DTG do something to make this sim stand out from it's competitors but if your new to flight sims or you just want something to test the waters you can't beat the $25 price tag of this sim.

I imagine most of the negative reviews are from fanboys of other sims who just want to see the new game fail.

This game has no right to be as fun as it is. I saw this one on sale and bought it just out of curiosity. Two days later I've got a Logitech G29 wheel on they way to the house and am excited to keep expanding my trucking empire. Get this game. It's fun and addicting. I don't understand and cannot explain why this game is so fun but it is. ATS scratches an itch I never knew I had.
