Excellent game. A bit like Endless Legend + Civ 6.

Excellent addition to a great game. There's still room for growth, but would now recommend this expansion.

Excellent. 4.5/5

Think Freelancer + Space 4X (ES2/Stellaris, etc.)

Essentially, you are an admiral of a flagship running your own space empire.

Single player--pretty sure there's no multiplayer option?

+:
Engaging, constantly changing open world--lots of fun.
Great progression of ships, classes, and empire-building.
Lots to do (trade, freelance missions, random encounters).
Storyline is fun so far (I'm not nearly through with it though).
Beautiful UI.
Great graphics.

-:
Ship combat takes some getting used to--it's complex, and there are several options for piloting (mouse, keyboard) and camera (chase cam, turret cam, etc.).

Ship automation exists and works well, but it's limited in some respects. The ship navigation is a bit like that of Star Trek Online, but with a fire-at-will option--and you can fly in all 3 dimensions (which makes things a bit confusing sometimes).

There's no "orbit" button, like Eve has (at least that I can find). I would have preferred this option.

There's no target list in the UI (at least that I can find). They should add one.

Tiny bit of a steep learning curve. Not terrible though.

Early Access Review
Fantastic start. Plays like a smoother Endless Space with some Endless Legend mechanics baked in. A solid foundation for an excellent sci-fi 4x.

This is an excellent 4x game, one of the best in the genre. It's easily worth the price.

+:

The tech tree is branching and complex, allowing for a great diversity in playthroughs and lots of replay value.

The UI is intuitive and thoughtful, especially the solar system management. Looks great too.

The races are diverse and unique.

The AI offers plenty of challenge.

The ship combat system is simple (some would say simplistic), but it offers a greater level of control than other popular space 4x titles.

The music and ambience is calming.

The DLC is a total revamp of the tech tree, offering what almost feels almost like a new game. Great value here.

-:

No ability to customize ship appearance.

No RTS-style direct control over ship combat.
