honestly.. REALLY wish there was an in between instead of a positive or negative choice for a review here...

first off, I have been playing MH for about 10 years now.. back with generations. Have been a charge blade main... no other weapons for me. So this review is from a charge blade ONLY player.
And let me tell ya... Monster hunter wilds, is a joke for the monster hunter series as a game. Not a bad game, but nothing like it use to be.

to start off with-- monster difficulty: Well, if you want to count it as a good... monsters are way the hell easier/faster to kill. So, for your more casual players, they can decently kill monsters and get their gear at a steady, decently fast pace. But... well... for those of us who know what were doing.. killing a monster- even a tempered monster in less than 10 minutes, when we are given 45 minutes, seems kinda bizarre. All attacks are extremely telegraphed now, and honestly too easy to dodge, parry, or block now.
And along with these mechanics, we are given this new wound system... which honestly is the main culprit of this extra easy dive the game has taken. No positioning/thought required now, just stab a wound, and watch the monster die. In past titles, timing, and strategies were needed, your every action mattered....now, it feels more like an auto/point and click game- with how this works. no brain needed.
Hell, even stocking items is waaay easy- you dont even need to explore this "open world" for craftables, when the game constantly gives you what you need- from potions, to even traps- you dont need to prep for a fight at all!!!
again, these things aren't bad- per say- just for those of us who loved the CHALLENGE of monster hunter... we kinda lost it.

even with the new content update- adding a boss that SHOUL'VE already had it's armor and weapon at launch---- along with one "new" monster (even though I love Mitzu, the wound system makes her too easy- even tempered. ) The game lacks any real challenge for those of us who are monster hunter veterans.

Ok. Kinda shocked at the amount of negative review this game has received. I'll start with comments about some of the main pints I see negative reviews for- and then my actual thoughts..

So, first- the auto battler/mobile port- I see alot of people upset it has auto battle- fun fact: you can disable it if you dont want it enabled- in fact they have a whole option in the settings to customize how the auto battle works- or if you even want it on to begin with. But to be honest the auto battle does suck- since it doesn't have your character dodge attacks- so if your character can't tank the hits- you'll die, as to if you just control your character. yes, the game is a "mobile" port- so it'll have a ton of mobile-like gimmicks, just like if you played many other mobile games on pc

Second- grinding/story telling. So, this one is a bit more of an opinion for me. But, when you go to play an MMO, EXPECT TO GRIND. it's kinda what MMO's are about. Most MMO's I've played kinda expect you to grind for stuff to make your character(s) OP. As for story telling- it's also your typical anime/mmo/fantasy world story- so, ye, if you think this will blow you away with a story that's never been told before, or with quests that no one has ever heard of, sorry to disappoint.

Third- the administration issue: now, I don't know what alot of your issues are with this. and honestly I don't get it. I have steam default to all games I play run as admin, since alot of games out there are like this. honestly can't really think of what game doesn't request admin permission to run.

OK- now for my "review"- as to why I think it's a good game. Honestly, I've played a bit of MMO's and for me a big issue with alot of them is TIME. you have to sink half a day sometimes to even complete your "daily quests".
this game, I dont feel any time restrains, and grinding doesn't feel time consuming nor does it feel like a waste of time when I am grinding for stuff.
Next- the game does have Gachas- but not for characters- but more for their skills/passives. NOW FOR SOME THIS CAN FEEL P2W- since you need gems to summon- which you can get doing quests- or paying $$$. which I can see how some would feel it is p2w, but honestly, i haven't had a problem so far getting gems for free- I'm decently far in the main quest and still able to do roughly 30-40 draws a day. and their "pity" system to get their rare gacha drops is sooo much better than certain other gacha games I know of (lookin at FGO, Genshin, ToF just to name a few)

Honestly tho, the game is free to play, so the worst case is if you dont like it- no loss
I honestly recommend the game, it's a much more laid back MMO experience, while still being enjoyable to play.

EDIT: they recently announced they are terminating service to this game- come April 30th. congrats, you negative reviewers you win. Still, however, recommend to any interested before it's gone to give it a try though, it is truly a fun and enjoyable game. it's a shame it wont last however.

Early Access Review
Sorry starbound, But I found my new main, "chill" game XD

seriously, I am in love with this game. At the start the game guides you into knowing some key important things- such as fast travel points, and tech points. And after that, you are on your own, and I LOVE it! Every location has new pals/enemies/loot for you to find. I finally have a creature capturing game where I've been struggling to know who I want on my "team". There is always something to do/see/explore/fight/build!

Now, one thing many need to know though, this game is a SURVIVAL game, meaning progression to get your many many guns will take TIME! (I'm sure it would be faster with friends/more players). Also, with it in early access, do expect bugs, and not the best AI choices/decisions.But even after all that, the game is AMAZING!!!!

Also, small comment, Lovander is the BEST- Change my mind!!!

Total blast of a game, if you aren't too serious.

I love this game, and community. just like many other Free to play games, there is that whole play to unlock- Time=Money, situation. So, if you are expecting all the Mechs, and Pilots upon start....either have hundreds of dollars to spend, or just play the game.

so first off... the pros:

1. game is an absolute blast. I have played a lot of pvp/ 3rd/1st person shooters, and honestly... I think I have the most fun on this game. the combat is always fun, and every game you never know what your gonna get, or what you are up against.
I've made it to high plat so far, and am loving eveything.

2. the community. it is small, but has been pretty chill, fun to talk and hang out with. It's always fun trying to round up peeps for some TDM. Of course, it is a pvp game..so you still will find that 1 guy who can't stop complaining..but it's just a simple block, and you never hear from them again.

3. the characters/mechs all feel so unique, and fun to play. each pilot with their unique "passives" and then each Mecha truely being their own individual in their right. No 2 mech are ever really alike.

Cons:
1. Again, I am a casual player, yes.. I have spent some money for a skin here and there, but for the most part, just like 99% of F2P games. You have to work to unlock stuff. And by unlock stuff.. I mean, Grind for a while....
2. on the same subject, prices for stuff can at times seem like a ton...especially if you are going for those Gacha skins...

3. is small, but the community is also really small. I, personally, don't see this as a bad thing.. but I know some might not like seeing or facing some of the same encounters numerous games.

So to sum up:

I love this game. it's always a fun time, assuming you aren't overly competitive. and are just looking for some awesome moments, with a small tight community.
Also, I LOVE MOON RABBIT, and ANDROMIDA- change my mind!

not gonna lie, honestly these complaints about skins, loot boxes, and your crappy internet not running a very detailed game at a billion frames is kinda bull...

now, keep in mind, all this is coming from a CASUAL PLAYER, I'm here to have fun with friends and just mess around. I'm not all that great at the game, and yet from me playing this game... I am very easily unlocking outfits, characters, and more- with no need to dump $$$$$$ like crazy.

The Good:
I LOVE the look of this game/ characters/ scenery... it's gorgeous
I really enjoy the combat in Naraka, as it is really nice and smooth. many of the weapons can appear pretty simple on the surface, but have MANY combos they can pull, along with cancels/ timing/ interruptions the combat is top notch. if people complain on the progress to get stuff, or are upsest with lootboxes...it could be soooo much worse (looks at Overwatch 2)
Next, the games themselves. I, personally, have the game running on pretty low graphics, so my loading and frames tend to be on the rather high side... (roughly about 60-100 fps, with a network latency of only 30) I see A TOOOOOOOOOOON of negative review over matches and lag/bots/ or Chinese players????? but I have yet to have any issues in any of these, so IDK, either I'm extremely lucky or people just salty.

The Bad:
honestly, no game is perfect, and the same is for Naraka. For people who don't like lootbox systems, or play to unlock gimmicks.(unless you pay money) then this game isn't for you.
Next, there can be some players who just dominate. but that can be said in 99% of Battle royal games. Hell, that can just be said for any pvp game. but I digress, there can be some moments where you stop... and blink in disbelief over how badly you just got owned...it's up to you though, as to how you react to that I guess.
lastly, the graphics can also hinder you. the game looks amazing, but the higher graphics can really fry your computer if it isn't all setup to handle pretty high quality games.

but there's my rant. If you are looking for a game to be hype about with friends, or suffer with friends. Or if you are the lone wolf out to just ruin some peoples lives, I strongly recommend this game. don't let the negative review bombs leave you with a sour taste before you've even tasted it.

welp, I made a character...spent about 30 minutes on that cause I take way to long to customize characters.
Then I play the first mission, take a small pause to eat some food... restart the game just to get "failed to load save"...
And hours later, attempting every "Fix" I could find... so I honestly can't recommend this when I myself didn't really get to play a game, only a character customizing simulator for 30 minutes.

One of.... no... THE best FPS game out there. I have spent 3 years on Overwatch, and seen it turn into the hell hole it is.

This game, though,is the best. It goes by the logic- if everyone is OP, it is balanced. and it lives true to that word. The gameplay is amazing, and the campain is jaw dropping. 11/10

Starbound is a game I'd highly recommend. To start off with, there is a lot you can do, with the 6 different races, and the many planets to explore, every playthrough will be different. I've seen a few compare this to Terraria, and the thing is, unlike Terraria there is far more to explore, and not as many insta-killing bosses/creatures. Starbound's story is 100% your speed, you get to choose when to advance the story, at the same time, the exploration of planets has a nice gradual advancement of it's own. you can't just leap into a planet full of lava with starting gear and expect to return with tons of loot, unscathed. you have to take the time to gather the resources from other locations to survive on the more advanced and deadly planets.

And let's not forget the many, many, many mods that you can add to this as well. With Steam's workshop, the mods are truely unlimited. I, personally, only have a little over 100 mods on this, and it still runs amazingly. If you want more planets, races, weapons, ..you name it...more than likely there is mods for it.

So, to sum this up. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to casually play a sandbox/survival type game. It's got a calm vibe, yet does have it's moments of tension. The story is kinda so-so, not the best story
I've seen, but not the worst at all. Fair price for an overabundant or things to do, and explore. 100/10
