Tried the demo, it was fun. Decided I wanted to give multi-player a try and of course you need to buy full version for that.

After starting a game with one person, I had someone else who wanted to join. But it turns out you cannot have new players join an in-game session. Everyone must be in the lobby before starting. Annoying, but okay fine. We all exit and go to lobby. Then we found out problems... new players are not given any resources, credits, or even a starting ship! You either all start from scratch on a new save or you have to grind and get resources to give each new player.

Shared coop on the for the same player is possible... However, that has another problem in that you share the same "fame" and thus limited in your crew size. Usually means one player has less crew than then need. (at least in at the start)

Overall the multi-player side of things is very raw and convoluted. It does have shared quests and tech unlocks which is wonderful. But the limits on starting a new save for a new player and no drop-in/drop-out is very disappointing.

After about 10 hours the gameplay got very repetitive. Quests were all the same as the last sector but just "higher" levels. I see the roadmap has career 2.0 coming. But as of yet, this isn't in the game.

I would recommend you give this game a pass for now and maybe revisit in future if it ever gets fleshed out.

Very awesome level of polish with quality of life features not seen in early access games. It is very chill and enjoyable game to play. I enjoyed the soundtrack as well with a synthwave style. Almost everything in the game is intuitive and not very complicated to figure out. (using the 3D part viewer for example). Overall an amazing game.

Good game already and looking forward to more content soon. Combat is fluid, building system is nice. Game is very pretty. Had a lot of fun getting to level 20. My only gripe is the Hallowed Halls. They are far too long without ability to leave mid-clear and empty or take a break. You have a 1hr+ long single sitting requirement. Otherwise everything else was very good.

Ah, the good old Keen Tax. If you want to keep playing and using things from the workshop, you need to keep re-buying the "Ultimate" version of the game over and over. Yes, they add a few blocks as a token "free update, we only added cosmetic stuff." But the truth is if you want to use workshop content, and be able to interact with the blocks/repair rebuild anything that is damaged, you have to pay their tax.

It wouldn't be so bad if they would fix the base game and the countless bugs. Event controllers not consistently working, AI blocks almost never work, server dsync errors, nested blueprint bloat, no subgrid blueprints, the list goes on and on. Instead they keep adding lipstick on the pig and milk people who want to play the game with "cosmetic only" DLC. Keen fix the base game then you can be justified in asking for more money.

Game is filled with modders and hackers that wreck the enjoyment for everyone of the game. Rockstar has never fixed this and if you use the private session trick, to get around the public modders, you get banned. Not buying any of their games again.

While still in early access, it has a good amount of content already in game. It took me around 30 hours to reach the end of the current content.

What is there is good, it does have some issues. A few times the during the story there isn't enough guidance to where we should be going/doing. Also some materials are bit too hard to find and end up taking forever to collect. Currently you don't get enough research points to unlock full tech tree. Although dev has said you will get enough in the future.

Story is acceptable. To be honest it got in the way more often then I'd like. Was more keen on combat then reading walls of text.

Ship building is good, but more parts would be welcome. The thermal/vents mechanic didn't seem to add any challenge. I think some more special parts like a directional shield module would be cooll.

Overall a good playthough, combat was fun. Just a few tweaks and this would be a very awesome game.

Got the game for free. Tried to play it and it kept crashing at different spots during tutorial. Tried a few workarounds, delting auto installing microsoft edge and disabling launcher crap. No change, 98GB download wasted and just uninstalled.

The game is buggy, poorly optimimised. It lags on decent system. (Ryzen9 3900x/32GB/RTX2070) They released DLC that broke the save files and still haven't fixed it from crashing. This is when they announced yet another DLC.

Employees spend almost 1/4 of their work time just walking to work then dooing actual jobs. UI is painful to use at times.

But what was the final straw is the almost constant spam from devs on bundles thier game with others. It seems they only care about the money and not existing customers. Recommend a pass and avoiding this dev/publisher.

I am a very large fan of Borderlands 2. Have hundreds of hours in it and enjoyed it many times with friends. However, this borderlands is far cry from the once great game.

The good part is the game feels very much like BL2, with a few extras. Only a few minor things were added to a mostly similar experience. That is great for existing fans.

But the bad is overwhelming:

1. Coop never worked. Tried for days, Steam/LAN, didn't matter. Connections always timed out. Each of my friends could see the other player, where they were but could never join in either direction.

2. The humour is that of teenager banter and makes my ears bleed. I feel like I'm trying to listen to a seven year who wants to be streamer with five fans trying to act important.

3. Much of the music misses the mark as well, had to turn it off it was so bad.

4. I feel like the devs/writers completely alienated the fan base with this version.

5. Sanctuary is a convoluted mess to navigate. Looks too similar and cramped.

6. Forced DLC audio prompts every time you travel to it and littered mini-map with heaps of icons annoying you to purchase in Sanctuary.

7. Very poor 3D map (mini and full) are making it difficult seeing where to go.

8. Game breaking bugs still not fixed 2+ years later with CTD because of quest bugs. (Lasertag)

Overall, they are asking too much for a mostly BL2 expansion with $300+ NZD of DLC. The game is a mess and I only recommend waiting for the Ultimate package (with DLC) when it's on sale for $10.

Note: Played over free weekend

The game used to be some fun. It was just missing content back from march 2021. Then the update hit months later and it had huge nerfs to food, bow and left all the mobs with their previous patch buffs making them even harder. The devs released a second update that returned 25 out of the 80 points of stamina they removed from serpent stew. Still ended up ding just running down some stairs (not falling) since the HP was just too slow to regenerate. They seem intent on making this as dark souls like and brutal as they can. The game is not fun anymore for my wife and I so will have to wait and see if it ever gets proper fix. Otherwise, recommend you give this game a pass for something that is actually fun.
