To his surprise, the owner of the house, a kind old woman named Mary, hired him on the spot. She explained that she needed someone to help her clean and repair the house, which had fallen into disrepair over the years.

As John began working on the house, he found himself feeling more fulfilled than he had in years. He loved the feeling of fixing things and making them beautiful again, and he enjoyed the simple pleasure of working hard and seeing the results of his labor.

As he worked, John also got to know Mary better. She was a wise and kind woman, and she had a lot of wisdom to share with him about life and the world. She also encouraged him to discover his passions and pursue his dreams, something that he had never really done before.

Over time, John came to realize that what had been missing from his life was not adventure or excitement, but a sense of purpose and connection. Through his work on the house and his friendship with Mary, he had found both.
