It's a very good game and having ironed out the initial issues I had I'm very pleased. Arrow keys still need to be sorted out and not bounded as they are.
Also, wouldn't it be better for gamer's to have the choice as to adding patches to their games? Particularly when they are performing well? Just a thought...

07/April/2023...

Thought I should let everyone know that, through a little research and the suggestions within the Steam community, I managed to overcome the technical problems mentioned in this post.
As 'Reptar'd' suggested, I cleaned, de-cluttered my system of temp file caches ( be wary of %temp% you may find items there you don't want deleted ) and although Steam's integrity check of 'The Last of Us' files returned saying all is good I decided to re-download and reinstall the game. I chose not to go the route of the 'driver clean' only because when looking into it, I chose not to install the recommended software. My thought process being, another program on the system may lead to additional issues.

Another problem I had but didn't mention with 'The Last of Us' was the arrow keys. These keys are crucial to my gaming method. So when I came across the mapping issue that they're hard-bounded to Weapon/Item Select, which is still unresolved with v1.0.1.7 patch that was another problem! However, 'Abhinav Sharma' ( CIA_KILLED_JFK ) who reported the fault to 'Naughty Dog' came up with a work around! 👏🏽

So, after a slighty bumpy start and if you can do a little research whilst they get through the debugging period. My comments are, that this game is Highly entertaining! The attention to detail is Next Level! The scenery which is often beautiful, has such detail and realism you become immersed in the environments. That's before you get into game play, which in itself seems to me to have a lot of originality. I'll leave it at that and pray our 'Earth' never witnesses such things! 👍🏽💖

When a game updates and then starts going to sh*t, I have found some luck doing a Scan & Repair for the game. After I will always delete everything in the Temp and %Temp% folders, clear the trash bin, and restart my computer.

Just in case: WIN+R then type Temp and press Enter, CTL+A to select everything and Delete. WIN+R again and this time type %temp% and press Enter. Now CTL+A and Delete. Clear the Recycle Bin. Restart Computer

This would get rid of any/all temp files used by apps that are cached. Sometimes the cached files are corrupt or incorrect and they can cause game, app and system crashes. Once you restart the computer new cached files will be written and saved again by apps that are launched and run.
