Close to perfect at capturing the magic of Hogwarts and the Wizarding world. Will make you feel like a kid again at times.

While i can see other reviewers points about this not being what they expected, I appreciate the ambition to try do something new. Many seem to miss the point of what this dlc allows Egosoft to do. Focusing on small moments in history with profound impact is an interesting way to do bite sized missions.

There is a lot of improvements to combat in the dlc missions and it can force you to evolve in how you play the game for the better. Never thought i would use the wing commands but here I am and they are brilliant. AI is also improved and it can feel closer to a dedicated space combat game here. Races are a nice change from the combat and trying to prefect flying actually makes it feel like there's a reason to get better at flying instead of pushing autopilot most of the time.

The leaderboard gives you a reason to push yourself to be your best and some of the missions can feel impossible at first until you learn some tricks. When i play sandbox mode most of it turns into a blur of killing and flying but here in these moments they feel memorable. The way there's just enough information to give the mission relevance to the universe but open enough to feel like there's more to understand then what is presented does make it memorable and thought provoking.

For some these might come across as basic wave base missions or low bar entry questing. For me it gives an interesting escape from the main game to just appreciate all the game systems tweaked to be the best they can be without the economy simulation dragging it down. You can actually have those big combat encounters at 60+ fps and with better AI.

I have been waiting for this dlc ever since it was announced and it did not disappoint. Been a while since i invested much time into the main game but here i feel free from that to just enjoy X4 without my bloated save holding me back. There is some mystery here and I for one can't wait to uncover it.

I hope Egosoft continues to add to the Timelines experience with future dlc's, even if it's only 1-2 new missions each time.

A lot of good aspects but it's still so unbalanced and early in development in many ways. It's a great idea on paper but in execution it fails because the finer details like enemy lords being a threat are simply too fake.

You march mercenary army vs mercenary army against each other and someone wins. Which defeats the purpose of trying to gear up your villagers when your army is just paid for on demand. When you try to summon your mercenary army in it spawns on all corners of the map but theirs always spawn nice and close together. The enemy lord will capture half the map in just the first year alone, while you barely even have villagers to work firewood and food collection.

There is some interesting depth with the city building aspect and simulation which can make it feel like Cities: Skylines Medieval Edition. When you start your first village it can feel like Frostpunk, where most of the time your first few villages will fail and it can be fun learning from your mistakes.

Give it a good year or two and maybe it will be something special worth remembering. For right now it feels like a very in-depth proof of concept for a semi new genre of game. If you just want to build a town, walk around it and be immersed by the simulation and graphics then give it a go.

Darks Souls with guns that is much better with friends.

Having a decent amount of build variety, classes and weapons to choose from allows you to play into each others style and build a team. Sadly one of the bosses does require guns to kill so you will never escape needing to use a gun to some degree. Shame because a melee only run might've been a fun challenge. So it's primarily a gun game and a melee game second.

Difficulty curve can be all over the place at times, going from really tough early on to almost never facing a proper feeling group challenge till the end. Mostly owing to the fact the game is randomly generated in the order that some of the acts show. Which does help replayability and there are a few difficulties to choose from but ruins any build up for new areas at times.

The new dlc does add some more endgame content but i haven't tried it yet. What the dlc does do is make dlc only content show in your standard game just to taunt you right from the get go almost. Good tactic to show what we are missing out on if we just paid a little bit more.

This game is what i like to call a google game. In that knowledge is key and some of the ridiculous stuff they want you to try figure out is just silly in this day and age. Either make a game playable without google or just expect everyone to cheat. It was fun for the first few guys in Reddit but it ain't fun for anyone else.

8/10 Fun gunplay and a good progression system makes for a good time with friends. Some bugs and an uneven difficulty curve hold this back from being higher.

After 10 years it still feels just as poorly designed as it was back then. What was this game like 10 years ago? You build a base and defend it. What is it like now? You build a base and defend it. Just that every single other thing about the game changes almost completely from patch to patch.

Now it's all about going to a trader to get boring quest and repeat ad nauseam. Loot magazines to get skill ups for 100s of levels. Which does encourage you to loot the world but completely ruins any sense of progression like a tech tree. Do quests for all the best gear and earn cash to buy the rest, then defend on horde night once a week. Want to work towards getting a vehicle? Well don't bother and just quest instead till you get a bike three quests in.

It feels like the developers really just have no clue. They have a game they made years ago but still can't pin down what the progression loop is. Is it exploring the world? Not really as every building is way too dangerous to explore now since they are all considered a dungeon with a linear path through it. Yes the building exploration and design is better but it's all so uniform it becomes boring. Almost nothing will surprise you because they are purposely designed in an almost identical way. If you've been in one big building then you've been in them all. Which is exhausting to even think about.

What's the tech progression like? It's completely random good luck. The new levelling system is close to the best it's been but that's not saying much since it went back several steps with the magazine skill ups.

If you like the game this patch then chances are you won't next patch. Had a favourite feature? Well it's now gone and replaced with something far worse. Maybe next patch will be better but don't expect any sort of clear vision from the developers

7/10 Still the best zombie base defence game with only Project Zomboid to compete with in any real sense.

Fairly good value for an mmo membership option. Lots of free goodies each month and the 1650 Atoms almost make it worth it with that alone. If you were ever considering buying Atoms then this is a fairly efficient way to do so.

Sure the game is made worse without this option but Elder Scrolls Online sold crafting and inventory space for years in their membership. Not sure what the difference is here that makes people so upset. If you want to support the game and go beyond what a normal account will allow you to do then here is your option. Or you could go play Lost Ark for "free".

When you've already played one of the best space sims out there X4 then what is this game? It's a big fat nothing burger with a side of boredom. Maybe i'm just getting too old to understand what a good game is or maybe people just have poor taste. If you eat crap long enough it might start to taste good.

Everything about this game is a broken mess that barely works and is tedious at best. It has that fake feeling like nothing really holds meaning or value and only matters in the few seconds you pass it. There is no travelling of ships between systems it's just all static random crap. You either summon it in like a damn mount from an mmo or it already existed there and will always exist there in that one spot.

The economy is a joke.

Questing is a joke.

Exploration is a joke.

Trading is a joke.

Minecraft has better combat.

Getting new ships is alright.

5/10 I'd rather play a proper space game.
