This is how you f***ing make an RPG. Don't even get me started on mods. Come on Bethesda, step up. With many hours of unique and exciting gameplay, Skyrim is far and away one of the best games I have ever played. The freedom in this game +mods is incredible and the skill tree is well made.

Across my short life, I've played a few castle sims. In my opinion, Stronghold Crusader should be a staple and was the industry standard back when it was released.
