An incredible way to experience Half-Life 2. Only an hour in and I'm incredibly immersed. Although I think I might have to play with laser and reloading mechanics disabled. I appreciate the attention to detail, but Half-Life 2 is much more action oriented than Alyx, and I don't always get the cover I need to be able to reload or shoot accurately.

It's got porn, hate speech, ♥♥♥♥♥, and antisemitism.

Oh and I guess there's also some pretty cool art in there. You gotta spend $5 to do draw anything good though.

This game is not for everyone.

Here's what you'll get when you play this game. You'll be unceremoniously dropped into a dying alien world. You will be given no story, no objective, no explanation of who you are, where you are, why you're here, or what your objective is. There'll be no guide, no hints, no hand-holding at all. There will be no NPCs to talk with. No logs to read. It's up to you to figure out how to progress through the game. You'll need to observe the world around you to figure out even an inkling of the story.

I've heard this game compared to Myst, and I find that comparison very accurate. If you enjoy games such as Myst or Obduction, games where you explore a silent world and solve puzzles, then I think you'll enjoy this game.

If you want combat, action, fighting monsters, consider getting a different game. There is combat, but combat should be treated as a last resort. I wish the developers had focused purely on exploration and puzzles and omitted combat entirely (or at least gave more of a focus on hiding from monsters like in Amnesia: The Dark Descent). A helpful hint for potential buyers. You don't have to fight the monsters. Most of the time you can simply hide from them and eventually they'll disappear down some hole, leaving you to explore at your leisure.

Finally, this game is dark and bleak. This world is dead. A festering corpse. You and your actions are but the last spasms of this cadaver. If you are familiar with the works of H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński, then you will know the kind of mood the game wants to express. Let yourself get lost in this world. Enjoy the grotesque beauty of it. Surrender to the entropy.

Do you like Euro Truck Simulator? Did you wish it had more rust and booze? Are you a true slav? Play this instead. Strangely enjoyable, and the dev is active and interacts a lot with the community.

It's everything I hoped for and more as a sequel to Psychonauts!

A short and absolutely wonderful game.

Welcome to Half Life: Alyx. After 12 years in development, it was definitely worth the weight wait.

The main story is quite short (If you're good!), but it's packed with challenge modes and and an endless mode to keep the fun going!

Never before have I been so nostalgic for an era of internet I never actually experienced for myself.
