Have played hundreds more hours of this on xbox before choosing to buy it here again to replay it before it gets delisted. It's the weakest of all the horizon games (which I have been played thousands of hours of since the first in 2012) but it's still an absolute whopper of an open world racer and deserving of the praise it gets. If you've never played a horizon before there's nothing wrong with starting here (although I would always recommend starting with the greatest oif all time Horizon 2 if you can ;)!)

It took me nearly 60 hours with this game to be able to conclusively say I enjoy it and it is good. I don't quite understand the reputation it has as a masterpiece and a perfect throwback to the older street racing titles in the series when it really feels like a mediocre and very very corporate impersonation of the kind of magic games like underground and most wanted had.

This is such a polarising game, it is bland and visually uninteresting during the day and then really pretty in the night. Night gameplay is honestly the best part of the game, feeling very addictive and reminiscent of most wanted's risk/reward loop - seriously fun. Driving story missions are a drag and not gripping at all. The main plot is hilariously terrible, no stakes and no real memorable moments. Some likeable endearing characters but not much else in the way of substance - I went the majority of playtime ignoring it because it didn't grip me. Then again I've always found most of the Need for Speed storys uninteresting.

Game is flawed but still fun and worth playing. Negatives are plentiful but they don't outweigh the serious fun factor this game has even if it doesn't seem to have much soul. Get on a discount

Game constantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my fps from around 40-50 to 7-15 upon opening any kind of menu or entering any kind of cutscene. Restarting the game fixed that but only until opening a menu or entering a cutscene again (which you have to doa lot of, unsurprisingly).

Gutted this is so broken because I was really looking forward to exploring this

Actual masterpiece

Plenty of content here to enjoy, racing is responsive and satisfying. Really lacks personality though. The first 2 GRID games had so much character but this one really doesn't. It isn't souless of anything but it's pretty bare bones presentation wise for a Codemasters racer.
