Overall rating: 7/10
Difficulty: Intense (highest without beating the campaign first)
Completion: 7.4 hours

Cons:
1. Beat the entire series of "campaigns" on "Intense" in 7.4 hours, including some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around.
2. Progression is less than basic; unlocks are universal to the level... seemingly. Everyone at the end of each mission gets the same rewards apart from hidden caches. I believe these rewards might be the same each mission but I can't recall.
3. Graphics are a low 7/10 for a 2021 release
4. Cosmetics are eh, decals look ugly most of the time.
5. The shop is remarkably basic with no indication that a lot of upgrades are from missions...
- Attachments are basic
- Guns are basic
- Consumes are the only thing worth buying with credits
- All guns are the same price and combat rating, no variety or progression. Same with attachments.
6. 3 player COOP
7. No option to turn off being given an AI during match making - bots always get in your way.
8. When leading the doctor to safety during the first campaign, he likes to hold on to your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as tight as possible, making it difficult to take cover or setup kill zones without hurting him in the process.
9. Perks are too basic and straight forward, both my guns and kit were maxed somewhere during campaign #2.
10. The ending was incredibly anti-climatic.

PROS:
1. Fair price point, but I would lower it to 30$ and make the deluxe edition 50$.
2. Music is incredible and atmospheric.
3. Level design replicated the movies with some decent amount of accuracy
4. Decent variety of enemies, but not for replay-ability
5. Lore accurate
6. Variety of Difficulty settings

PSA: I have not played horde mode yet and ran some other friends through some missions they struggled with, and I have not tried a higher difficulty yet. I'm taking a break and I will update this review with more detail once I get more information. I would say this game is somewhere inbetween recommended and not recommended, pretty solid effort for an Alien game.

Great idea with horrible execution. The glitches in this game are numerous and game breaking. ONLY buy this game if it's on sale and have literally nothing else to play.
UPDATE: Worst combat I've ever seen in a videogame

1. Fast traveling without a torch at night will get you fined or jailed if you pass by a city, which isn't clear at all. After paying the fine, with my torch out, I was arrested again on the spot. After the guard had already taken all my money, I had none left and I was jailed.

2. While walking around in a city at night with a torch, all civilians/guards will constantly say "WHAT WAS THAT" around you, run around or act weird.. and it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.

3. The anti-aliasing in this game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad you can literally see the pixels. I'm playing on max max settings and no combination of changes will fix the weird pixels you see on everything, like giant splotches overlaid onto your screen.

4. Armor, clothes, and animals/textures are clipping everywhere. It's really bad for what this game is supposed to be.

5. AI can literally block your path and won't move even if you run into them, they just stand there moaning and block you completely until they decide to move. IF they decide to move.

6. The fighting mechanics in this game were, again, a good idea with horrible execution. I don't feel like explaining why. It's clunky as ♥♥♥♥.

7. When you flee the first town on horseback with people chasing you, before you enter the fleeing scene your horse is 300% faster. The scene happens, and you need to run - suddenly, you're slow as ♥♥♥♥ with archers shooting at you on horseback literally up your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it's impossible to escape them without seemingly breaking the game. I was able to jump over multiple ditches and glitch the path finding of the people in pursuit, and they despawned completely. When I entered the next town, the cut scene showed me still being chased. Really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad effort by the dev team.

8. The UI makes little sense. It seems super extravagant without much function. But it fits the theme, so it MUST be good, right?

9. When you encounter one of your former friends trying to steal from bodies, he basically tells you he wants to ♥♥♥♥ you. Normally, you can just absolutely destroy people. But the game physically prevented me from attacking him even after being provoked, so he could run away and bring bandits to fit the story who then almost kill you and take your sword. Again, REALLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ EFFORT by the devs.

Idled in the menu after seeing two glaring issues with the game, so I could be allowed to write a review.

1. 60fps cap (it's 2021, there's zero excuse)
2. Your character aims automatically and shoots automatically, and you have to click to move. It's just not fun. It's watching paint dry with WASD.

Don't buy this game and there's zero hope for this game.

Early Access Review
Don't buy this game.
This isn't a survival game. It's an annoying game. Here's why:

1.Hunger and Thirst are incredibly easy to fix, and also drain incredibly fast.

2. There's no real challenge, so the game spams a shark after your raft repeatedly. You kill it? It comes back within about a minute and 30 seconds full health. Killing it is also really easy, you don't even need the bait. Grab a metal spear and jump in the ocean, then just hit it when it charges you with it's mouth open and you don't take damage. Rinse and repeat.

3. Durability on all items is trash. So when your spear breaks and the shark is eating your ship, which it does often, you have to let it take the piece of the ship.

4. All the AI go through walls and objects

5. The only threat other than sharks is a bird that picks up boulders and drops them on you without making much sound at all. Just a brief "caw" in the distance, and no sound until you're getting squashed. You can just hold W in one direction and keep running and it won't hurt you though.

6. There's only 2 islands in the game as far as I can tell. You just find them on repeat and pretend they aren't the same as the one you just left.

Adjusted review to negative due to sub-tick delay imposed by Valve for CS2.

The game is no longer instant. Input lag is low, but the actual netcode of what's happening has a huge layer of lag to allow sub tick processing and creates not only a huge delay on all real time actions, but creates a scenario where peekers advantage is the only way to win and it's never been worse in any online game. Valve stubbornly clings to their failed sub-tick R&D, and continues to kill the game with every "update".

After 10 years of CS, I am sad to say I will not be returning to the game again until this is removed.

Absolutely horrible AI.

Mods SHOULD NOT be required to fix your 50+ $ game, and after years, the AI is still ♥♥♥♥. Why is it bad? Let's give a few examples.

1. My only alive character would rather play horse shoes in -50 degrees than tend to the wounded or grow/maintain indoor crops. He gets hypothermia without stopping his horse shoe ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and falls on the ground, and the other person who was inside perfectly fine has a nervous breakdown at the same time and runs around and falls on the ground with hypothermia. The last character has been in bed for the last 7 days after landing here in a drop pod without any injuries, so naturally, cannot be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to help either of them. Everyone dies.

2. I want my character to grow crops, and cook them. Instead of cooking them when there are enough, he would rather eat the rice raw when the stove is right next to him and he's the chef. Sometimes, he might even force feed someone raw rice until they are both vomiting everywhere, until someone unrelated catches the plague and then suddenly everyone is terribly sick. Would he rather tend to them on death's door? Nah, let's go play more horse shoes in -30 degrees.

3. There's plenty more, it's all just complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It doesn't feel like survival it feels like complete RNG without any possibility of success.

The priorities are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥, the quests are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and the random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. The only approach to fix this? Play on an easier difficulty. Add mods. Well, basically all the difficulties are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and the story tellers are cancerous. Nervous breakdowns occur so frequently especially early on when there just isn't a real reason for it. I've tried all the story tellers and all the difficulties, and the only playable ones are incredibly easy and boring, there's just no realistic difficulty that's actually interesting. Ultimately, the game is fantastic when it works. But it just never works.

Crashes constantly on a high end computer. Tried everything, reinstalled windows, lowered all overclocks, tried no overclocks at all, tried reseating everything, and I even bought a new motherboard thinking my previous one was bad. I'm running a 9900k @5.3GHz w/ Z390 DARK, GTX 1080, 4300MHz cl 16 ram, 2 gen 4.0 aorus m.2s in raid 0, and a 1,300w titanium rated psu. The game STILL crashes. I tried following guides online for modifying the configuration file, and while the stutters could be removed by using only high priority threads in the configuration, the game still crashes.

Ontop of constant crashes, the planets lack variety. The ones that have some form of variety just look... out of place and copy and pasted. You can see the seems. Sometimes even the entire planet's texture has a giant seam. These kind of visual issues really detract from the immersion, as the progression is already incredibly linear and incredibly easy with no real goals to set - Even money can be earned in the millions (Which is enough to get you basically anything you want) within minutes of starting the game. "Survival" mode is just a cheap alteration to make things slightly harder and inconvenient than actually adding anything to the game at all. Just minor inconveniences.

TL;DR
Do not buy this game. The devs would rather add DLC then fix or optimize the game, and It doesn't matter what computer you have. The game feels aimless and whatever progression is available is easy and linear. If you do somehow manage to get into the game, you'll crash. Constantly. Never EVER giving this company another chance, they already had atleast 3.

9.33 / 10 (COOP) | 8.5/10 (SOLO) --- nearing 50 hours and not even half way.
Definitely better with friends, though it's still great alone. The only thing I don't like are two abilities that break the game; Teleportation gloves (given to you at the start) and one ability that prevents death for two turns without drawback. Furthermore, lone wolf should only apply if you are completely solo, with a lesser application for duos - allowing you to truly be a lone wolf.

Copying and pasting another review I agree with:

Let it be known that I do find this game fun, at times. However the problems with the game cause it to be incredibly frustrating to play most of the times, with many of your deaths being certified ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t thanks to the incredibly buggy, unbalanced, and unrealistic combat, weapons and armour. Likely the worst feature of the combat system is how effective feinting is. Feinting is when you cancel your swing just before you do swing to throw off your opponent. The issue is not only is this a terrible tactic that only serves to get you killed in real life, it is ridiculously effective in Mordhau, being so strong that nearly every player will feint as soon as you pay attention to them, with the only good counter being chambering, which however is not only very touchy, by the time you realize the enemy is fainting and you try to chamber, you will either be dead because of a one hit kill or they will have already swapped their tactic, on average killing you with the second hit, even if you are wearing plate.

As for weapons, the best example of an unbalanced weapon is the maul. The maul does incredibly high blunt damage, making plate almost useless against it, the biggest problem with it however is its ability to instantly kill someone with a headshot no matter what armour they are wearing, even with a side swing. The fact is that in order to instantly kill someone or at least knock them unconscious with a blow to the head with a big hammer would take a pretty big windup if doing a side swing, much slower than what it takes in-game, and as a result, a single mistake against a hammer will usually result in instant death, and of course, with feints being an incredible tool for making players make mistakes, this creates an incredibly overpowered combo that will make many players believe they are "Gods" despite the fact that as soon as they pick up a longsword, they become about as skilled as the average player. Obviously I have no problem with an overhead swing instantly killing someone, as that is pretty realistic, even given the time it takes to perform one in-game, as the weight of the hammer really helps with this.

The issue continues with many of the other weapons, such as the executioners sword, which does a ridiculous amount of damage against armour despite being a bladed weapon and also being a one shot headshot, with much longer reach than a hammer.

As for bugs, they are generally small and mostly unnoticeable, however playing long enough you will notice them, causing issues with recovery times and hit boxes, which can be incredibly frustrating when you would have been able to hit, swing, or block if it were not for them and getting killed. (Some are more noticeable however, like when playing as cav, if an enemy also on a horse comes at you at the right angle and speed, can literally phase through you, even through your weapon, this is pretty rare though and they generally won't be at a good angle to be able to hit you with a swing)

There are also some features and "Balances" that are in my opinion strange or over the top.
One such example is the obvious intent by the devs to not just nerf ranged weapons to prevent them from dominating the field by one shotting plate users, but nerf them so hard that they will never be as effective as using a melee weapon without some serious ability to land head shots (Which won't even one hit kill people using MEDIUM armour). The three main ranged weapons are the Long Bow, Crossbow, and Recurve bow. The three main problems with these weapons are very low damage, unrealistically slow projectiles, and the ability to literally block projectiles with any melee weapon, which of course is made worse by the slow speed of these projectiles. I understand the decision to not allow the long bow or crossbow being able to one shot(By which I mean render incabable of fighting) someone with a body shot like in real life(Excluding some rare cases of some incredibly resilient people), but the fact that it takes three body shots or two head shots to kill someone is just ridiculous. What is even worse is the fact that for the Long bow it gets these kills with the bare minimum, with each body shot dealing 34 damage to plate users. and head shots dealing 50(Remember that the vast majority of players will be using plate, and it takes the same number of shots kill a medium armoured person). What makes this so bad is the fact that even the tiniest amount of healing will require additional shots to kill someone, which is easily done with bandages (Which only cost 1 Equipment point of your total 16 and can be used TWICE), Medic bags (Which cost 2 points), or even just the passive healing after not taking damage for enough time, which will activate even if you just miss ONE shot on the person, guaranteeing that you need yet another arrow to kill them, even if they only heal for 3 health. This is also assuming they don't notice you shooting them after the first arrow, and fail to parry the incredibly slow projectile that is easy to see from a distance with only their weapon (A shield is actually worse than using your weapon if you are good at timing your parries due to the fact that the arrow can go under it into your legs). What is probably the worst thing about this is that throwing weapons are nowhere close to being as nerfed as the proper ranged weapons. While they might have only two(For the Javelin and throwing axes) or four (For the throwing knives) ammo, they are incredibly cheap point wise and can easily be taking with a melee weapon to give you an extra edge in fights, not to mention they will be much easier to hit with at close range (You can even feint with them if someone is parrying them).

TL;DR: The game CAN be fun, especially if you learn the mechanics and use them well, unfortunately the game is unbalanced and unrealistic, with cheap gimmicks and some frustrating bugs. If you want to be an archer, think again.
