Fallout 4 - Lost son
Fallout 3 - Lost father
Fallout 4 Far Harbour - Lost Daughter mission
Fallout 3 Point Lookout - Another Lost Daughter mission

Does anyone else see a pattern when Bethesda makes a Fallout game? you can hardly even Roleplay this game since you have a background pre-made for you and voiced protagonist, Give the Fallout licence to Obsidian
The Series will last longer.

@123Nick The similar goal doesn't bother me personally. F1 and F2 were also similar to each other in that way.

What does bother me is the F4 quest is based on a powerful motive you'd think would be pretty constricting - the sort of stuff you don't set aside to study mirelurks, make some deliveries, and have a few drinks with the locals. Yet the game nudges you into F2 style wandering, the collecting of faction loyalties, and construction projects. The sort of thing you do in high school because you've got no attachments so might as well make some friends and collect extracurricular activities for your college applications.

This makes sense in a game like Torment or Skyrim. With a missing child at stake it's bizarre and eerie. As a parent I found it impossible to sympathize with the main character. If you're not a parent, and you aren't ever freaked out by those occasional news stories about parents who forget about their kids while they go on a bender, maybe this is your cup of tea.

@123Nick I don't recommend Fallout 4 because It isn't an RPG at all It's Open World Shotter with small RPG elements such as making a Stealth character or Sniper, that's about it. Plenty of other games have Weapon modding and quest though Fallout 4 is the only game I've seen with 3D Settlement building though It's settlement building wasn't that good at all in my opinion. I just Personally don't recommend it to any RPG fan cause It isn't one.

so because the protagonist has a similar back story to the previous fallout games, you would not recommend fallout 4 ? with settlement building, weapon modding, quests, all the great things a RPG should have and more?

2/ What Fallout 4 did wrong was to put the player in the shoes of an adult who has already been through the two key decisions and experiences in adult life - finding a mate and having a child - and then expect us to fill in the blanks when these things are taken from us without having been given any time to form attachments. Then we are tossed into a situation where the player is constantly tempted by distractions and rewarded for succumbing to them, as if he had just stumbled out of wizard school having been advised to take on odd jobs and do favors for people in order to increase his reputation in town.

You started Fallout 3 with a concrete identity but also essentially as a child with very little experience. The one thing foisted on you was the loss of your parents, and players mostly brought their own feelings about parenthood and abandonment to this. Arguably F3 made a mistake by not letting you kill your father or at least formally walk away from it all, completing the quest chain by telling him off. But by then we'd been given a refresher course in how Fallout works, and having no choice in the matter let us gnash our teeth and grudgingly follow the man - something most people with troublesome parents can relate to.

@Sievald Of Catarina, I would write down my whole criticism but to be honest there would be a lot and I don't really have time for it, I know that people love Fallout 4 and that's great! It means there a lot more optimistic about it and enjoy for what it is, I admitly went into this with expections which is honestly a fool part on mine, Fallout 4 Is a great game I just can't get past it's story and minor gripes I have with this game, and yes I've heard of the theroy that Father is James but I didn't look to much into the theroy I should look into it. Like I said before If people enjoy this game thats great! It's good that people had more enjoyment that I couldn't get. It was nice of you to comment if you have anymore questions let me know! Have a great day :D.
