Kid: Mom, can we buy The Room?
Mom: We have The Room at home.

It's good enough. Definitely feel like a mobile port.

Short, fun auto-clicker-esque game. Good lo-fi beats and a cool aesthetic.

Hard to beat for less than a cup of coffee.

If you liked the idea behind Obra Dinn more than the implementation, this is the game for you. It is entirely an homage to that game with semi-static graphics and gives you all the information you need to deduce what happened in those screen. The big differences are that it divides the game into chapters, with the information needed to solve each chapter pretty much self contained, although it certainly helps to remember what happened in prior chapters when identifying things. It also is easier as the game informs you when you're "close" to being correct in your deductions and includes a hint system for when you get stuck.

Highly recommended.

Don't let the "alpha" tag fool you, this game is more complete than many released games. The devs are very engaged and they've been making regular releases for almost 7 years. Needless to say the game has come a long way since then.

Some minor cons: melee still feels a little janky compared to ranged, it's hard to build a base that can stand up to the hordes that spawn on night 7 but conversely it's easy to get to the point where smaller groups pose no real threat.

Even so, if you like crafting / survival games you'll find a lot to like here. It feels really good to get to the point where your base is coming together, you're not running in fear from solo zombies and you start finding those needed upgrades to bring your character to the next level.

I have put over 900 hours in this game after getting burned out on Diablo 3. I only wish that I had taken a chance on it earlier. It's what I want out of a fantasy ARPG with tremendous depth and build diversity. It *is* complicated but give it a chance and I think you'll find that it scratches that itch for you too.

Edit:
2023 might have been the best year for PoE in a while. If you are at all interested in ARPGs, you owe it to yourself to try out PoE.
