It hurts to say this, but there isn't one thing about this game that isn't a janky, broken mess. Not 10 seconds go by without something looking or acting "off" or straight up broken. Enter a new screen? Camera spawns on the opposite side of the room than scrolls to your location through several out-of-bounds areas. Attack an enemy? Their dying animation spazzes out all over the screen. Trying to jump? Too bad! Your jump has become unusable for some reason, and now you have to slam and jiggle the controls to re-enable it. Want to navigate the weirdly convoluted and incoherent menus? Better use your mouse, because controller inputs don't work 3/4 of the time. Trying to read a seemingly important text box? It disappears almost instantly, with no way to recall it. And why does everyone keep saying I'm some sort of a creature, while I'm clearly a human? Did I miss something by not dying once in the prologue?

I have given this game chance after chance after chance, but even after three hours it still felt like I'm beta-testing a chore.
It's not often one sees a released game with polish lacking to such an alarming degree!

A very chill little puzzle game which is often less about logic and more about aesthetics and pattern-seeking. In other words - an adorable OCD simulator.
The main game is pretty short and not difficult to clear in one sitting, but offers post-completion daily puzzles for those who are into that kind of thing.

A wonderfully chill metroidvania game, with cute art style, melodic ambient tunes, and fun gameplay. It might not be super memorable or flashy, but it does everything well enough to be a smooth experience all the way through. The difficulty ramps up, but never becomes overwhelming, and the game is forgiving enough to make progress in even if you make mistakes.
The HUD keeps reminding me of Dominos Pizza for some reason though: )

Definitely not perfect overall, but for a free game it's quite outstanding! Completed it in about 3 hours, so it doesn't overstay its welcome.

H-Game or not, this is a wonderful little metroidvania with colorful art and catchy music.
The art is fantastic, with tons of expressive cute/hot animation and well drawn playfield and backgrounds, yet it all has a very fun quick-and-dirty feel to it, which I actually prefer to over-rendered pixel art.
The difficulty is just right too - the game rarely goes out of its way to excessively punish the player, while still being quite challenging. Some of the bosses had easily exploitable blind spots, but I personally see nothing wrong with that.

Just like everything else about Callisto Protocol, this DLC is deeply disappointing. Where the main game had no story for 90% of its runtime, then had the gall to end on a cliffhanger, Final Transmission starts out with a promise to flesh out the paper thin plot and provide some sort of a resolution, but ultimately does none of that. In fact, it commits one of the worst sins in media, as "it was all a dream".
It seems Striking Distance has finally figured out their shader compilation struggle, and the game doesn't stutter nearly as much as it did on release, however, this doesn't mean anything for the DLC chapter optimization. Even on a higher-end system the framerate varies wildly between 160+ and 15fps, making it quite unpleasant to play.

What an amazing fit of nostalgia! The NES version is every bit as full-featured as the PC game, and in fact features a lot more content (even if it's not quite as great as the main game). Though the locations have less screen real estate to work with, all the puzzles and challenges are faithfully replicated here, as is the outstanding soundtrack. The ROM works great on most emulators, unfortunately it refused to run on my PowerPak flashcart.

EDIT: The ROM works fine on the PowerPak with Loopy's Mapper pack installed!

A great combination of a chill gameplay loop and an unsettling undercurrent of cosmic horror. Definitely worth the money if you don't mind some spooky fishing.

Almost every asset of Atomic Heart is severely flawed, yet I love it in spite of that. Its world is fascinating, and the story - just intriguing enough to keep me invested through its jankier setpieces.

This remake is somewhat unnecessary, as 2008 Dead Space looks and plays great to this day. Still, if this is your first encounter with the series or you would like to replay a classic game with a brand new coat of paint and some of its rougher edges smoothed out, DS 2023 is an outstanding remake.
Most changes are for the better - more likable/loathsome characters, better dialogue, speaking protagonist, seamless environment, better puzzles, greater enemy variety etc. All great adjustments and additions! The only one I'm a bit conflicted on is the zero-G movement. In the original, zero-G sections were sort of like a puzzle, but here it's much more open and free-form, but also very disorienting.

The $60 price tag might be steep, but you are getting a complete single-player experience without any need for a season pass or DLC (though EA will gladly sell you a few extra player skins for an additional $10 - super not worth it!). Lastly, until Callisto Protocol I didn't realize this is going to be a selling point, but Dead Space gives you a complete story and an actual ending. Two, in fact!
