I like the in-depth tuning but being always online always multiplayer is not my kind of NFS experience.

Very, *VERY* gruelling early game, but once you get a hold of the system you'll be rewarded with a very beautiful game. Not the game for someone expecting a power fantasy.

With Long War mod this game gets even better. Finish Enemy Unknown first, then play Enemy Within with Long War installed for maximum fun.

The devs are cool. Like, 'actually listening to their community' kind of cool.

Release delayed for a couple hours. No discount on release date but 10% discount the day after. You have a LOT of explaining to do to early buyers.

Okay. The review.
tl;dr it's okay, but not recommended. The switch to platforming and puzzle gameplay ends up being weak, and not enough stuff from the original game makes it here to justify a nostalgia purchase.

Long review here.
The game itself is okay, except it doesn't feel much like the original Yume Nikki. YUMENIKKI -DREAM DIARY- is a reimagining with a lot of inspiration taken from recent games. While it's not bad in itself, the game is rather lackluster with clunky platforming. Effects play a more integral role but exploration is way more linear (you need to do X before Y and you need to have effect Z to do it) instead of letting you explore as much as you want. Not to mention the dream world is way smaller and there's less than half the effects of the original. There's also much, much less character that appears in this game. 30 fps cap on best quality also confuses me considering good quality is capped at 60 fps.

That doesn't mean there's no good thing from this game. The soundtrack is marvelous (soundtrack DLC pls) and captures the feel of every dream world nicely. The few other characters you meet now have /slightly/ more personality than the original stabbing block. Puzzles and clearly hostile dreamscape with hostile characters are a bit of mixed bag tho. You either like them or not. I personally think it's fine, a change of pace from the original. Some of the more memorable scenes are recreated beautifully.

All in all, it's not fair to compare it to the original Yume Nikki. It's probably closer to the games that draw liberal interpretation from Yume Nikki like Yume 2kki, .flow, etc. And it's not exactly a good game. It loses some aspects that makes the original and its fangames cult classics. Old players who are going to buy it for nostalgia will be disappointed there's so many things missing, and new players who are going to buy to try new experience will feel this game is just clunky. Not a bad game, but can't say I recommend this game. Just watch other people's playthroughs and you'll be fine.

Clunky gameplay, but story depth and character interactions definitely covered its weak points. Every choices you make matters, and sometimes you're not given enough time nor clue to figure out which one is right -- just in real life.
And this is an ESPIONAGE RPG; you're not playing this to shoot bad guys and be awesome, you're playing this to manipulate people and not get manipulated in return.
